ApacheHVAC - Part 1
Introduction
In Part 1 training notes the basics of creating HVAC plant
and control networks for a building using IES’s ApacheHVAC
tool are covered. Simple networks are created for subsequent
use by ApacheSim, IES’s dynamic thermal simulation module.
ApacheHVAC controllers
Defining a flow rate in the system using an Independent Time Switch controller.
Enable the ApacheHVAC link to use the ApacheHVAC network in the simulation,
and select the appropriate ApacheHVAC .asp file.
Details can be specified regarding the operating temperatures for the Hot Water Loop.
Rated pump powers can be entered and performance curves selected.
When a “Hot Water Loop” type system is chosen you can add more than one
heat source and they can be sequenced.
Run a dynamic simulation using this network and look at the results in Vista,
including conditions at any point in the ApacheHVAC system, room temperature,
heating/cooling coil loads, boiler/chiller loads and HVAC system energy
consumption.
Run a dynamic simulation using this network with both an ApacheHVAC link and
a MacroFlo link, and look at the results in Vista, especially room temperature,
flow rates through the open window and extract fan energy consumption.
