Responsible for maintenance and care of the aquaponics systems at the garden center. This includes six flow-through
systems that house nearly one thousand Nile and red tilapia.
Marine Technician Intern R/V Atlantic Explorer, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. August-September 2018
Shadowed technicians aboard the R/V Atlantic Explorer. Responsibilities included technical and IT support, leading deck
operations, maintenance and repair of scientific instruments and systems, and liaison between science party and ship crew.
Tall Ship Deckhand/Outdoor Educator Los Angeles Maritime Institute. 2017 – 2018
Created and implemented marine science and STEM lessons aboard the Irving and Exy Johnson tall ships focused on water
quality. Presented lessons to 5th-12th grade students, trained Youth Crew sailors, and supervised volunteers and deckhands.
Interpretive Park Ranger Ukiah Field Office, Bureau of Land Management. May – November 2017
Designed and implemented educational programs for the California Coastal National Monument. Organized and hosted
special events, site cleanups, conducted daily patrols, participated in wildlife monitoring, and oversaw maintenance of
the National Monuments. Gained graphic design, communication, outreach, and public speaking skills.

Assisted in population monitoring, animal handling, captive breeding, and stocking of two-dozen endangered freshwater
fish species in the southeast United States. Gained experience in low-impact monitoring of wild populations and held
educational snorkeling programs for student groups.

Worked alongside aquarists in the Animal Husbandry Department to care for the aquarium animals. Responsibilities included

The effects of Copper on California Mussels (Research Experience for Undergraduates)
Dr. Sergey Nuzhdin, Department of Computational Genetics, University of Southern California. Summer 2016
Participated in a competitive research program at the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Sciences aimed towards
graduate school preparation in the STEM field. Research focused on genetic resilience of mussels to Cu pollution. Skills
gained include data processing and statistical analysis, DNA extraction, and experimental design and execution.

Population assessment and restoration of Elkhorn and Staghorn Coral


Professor Eliza Garfield, School for Field Studies, South Caicos, Turks & Caicos Islands. Spring 2016
Initiated coral reef restoration efforts by building the first coral nursery in the TCI. Analyzed population and recovery status
of two endangered coral species.
Himali Didi: Finding power in the women of Nepal
Independent Study Project, Katmandu, Nepal. Fall 2015
Evaluated the importance of environmental empowerment as a tool for elevating women in Himalayan societies. This
project was based on interviews with over thirty Nepalese women involved in the trekking & mountaineering industry.
Atlantic Scallop population survey
NOAA Ecosystems Population Survey. Summer 2015
Assisted in driving and maintaining the HabCam aboard the Hugh R. Sharp Research Vessel. Additional responsibilities
included collecting and analyzing data used for developing Atlantic Sea Scallop fishery regulations.
Kayaderosseras River Assessment
Professor Anne Ernst, Skidmore College, Environmental Science Program. Spring 2015
Experimental design and instrumentation setup was conducted to establish a long-term database that will evaluate the
water quality and rate of sedimentation of the Kayaderosseras River and associated watershed.

Encouraged the enforcement of MSC certification for seafood consumption at Skidmore College. Regulations completed
in collaboration with the Skidmore College Dining Hall representatives.
