ED TECH ISSUE 2

An issue I believe is common when using technology, rather young or old is

Cyberbullying. This is an issue that can be done any many forms or ways. Adults get it with

people stalking them and maybe creating threatening messages or emails. They also can post

hurtful or harmful things or information against them for others to see that could damage their

reputation for good. Children receive cyberbullying particularly in the same way. The only

thing is that technology has given it more ways to be done. Smartphones and other technology

device can be used to post negative comment, images, posts, and blogs about students. This can

lead to some students reasoning for trying to commit suicide. What can be done about Cyber

bullying? How can it be prevented or stopped? In the article Teachers’ and students’ perception

about cyberbullying. Intervention strategies in Primary and Secondary education (Giméne.,

Arnaiz., Cerezo., & Prodócimo., 2018), it metions that some of the strategies for the adults to

stop cyberbullying are mediating, communicating, and seeking help. Some of the strategies for

the students include avoidance, protection, and reporting. All of these strategies are good to use

they just have to be continuously done in order for the situation to be effective. Another article

entitled AN EXAMINATION OF THE PREDICTIVE FACTORS OF CYBERBULLYING IN

ADOLESCENTS (BEYAZIT, ŞIMŞEK, AYHAN, 2017), mentions of how Cyberbullying is

defined as a new dimension of bullying that includes deliberate and hostile attitudes of an

individual or a group that damage others through the use of information and communication

technologies (pg. 1512, para.3). bullying has expanded to a broader platform that it almost seem

natural to see it being done. The one thing that could probably prevent it the best is monitoring

of the content being downloaded and shared by adults more frequently than what is done.

Cyberbullying should not take over a students life and keep them from learning, but this is

exactly what happens because they are afraid to speak up or out about how it makes them feel.
