It is responsible for performing the operations in the computer.
Two types of operations:
Arithmetic operations
Logic operations

3) What is the purpose of the control unit?

It decodes and directs operations and regulates the flow of data to
various parts of the CPU.

5) Is a shorter clock cycle better or worse? Why?

It is better. A shorter clock cycle takes less time to process a basic
instruction.
