TO: All owner/operators of Beechcraft King Air or Super King Air aircraft equipped with
Raisbeck Engineering, Inc. (REI) Nacelle Wing Lockers System (NWLS).

SUBJECT: Modification of NWLS Door Assembly to accept Pin Latch Assembly P/N 07BC-54-
200-1 or P/N H3-1714-2.

APPLICABILITY: Beechcraft King Air or Super King Air aircraft equipped with REI NWLS installed
per STC SA3819NM, SA3857NM, SA4734NM, SA2939NM, SA5152NM, or
SA4132NM.

BACKGROUND: Replacement latches for the older style REI Nacelle Wing Lockers are no longer
available. If Latch Assembly P/N 85-3521-1/-7 is unserviceable it may be replaced
with Pin Latch Assembly P/N 07BC-54-200-1 or P/N H3-1714-2.

Instructions
NOTE: IF THE LOCKER IS REMOVED FROM THE AIRCRAFT, SUPPORT IT AS SHOWN WHILE
ACCOMPLISHING THE FOLLOWING TASKS. THIS WILL PREVENT THE LOCKER FROM
TWISTING, WHICH CAN AFFECT THE FITMENT OF THE DOOR AND LATCHES/LATCH
RECEIVER ASSEMBLIES.

Support the FWD edge of the Locker with a


bulkhead to simulate the curvature of the nacelle.
Support the aft end of the Locker on a flat surface.

Locker Support

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AND QUANTITIES ARE FOR ONE LATCH
INSTALLATION ONLY. REPEAT THE PROCESS FOR REMAINING LATCH.

1. Remove Cover Plate, P/N 85-3520-059.

2. Remove Latch, P/N 85-3521-1 or 85-3521-7.

3. Remove Grommet, P/N MS35489-38.

Remove grease and


clean with solvent.

4. Remove all grease and contaminates from Latch Well. Clean with solvent to
prevent contaminating the laminate before trimming.

5. Trim the Latch Well from the door.

CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRIM THE POCKET FLUSH TO THE DOOR WITH THE
INITIAL TRIM.

6. After the initial trim, grind down the remainder of the Latch Well to within .010 inch
of flush to the door.

CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GRIND THE REMAINDER OF THE POCKET


COMPLETELY FLUSH TO THE DOOR WITH POWER OR AIR TOOLS.

7. Using a hand block sander and 220 grit (or finer) sand paper, remove the remainder
of the latch well walls, paint, and filler to produce a flat surface.

CAUTION: DO NOT SAND INTO THE SURFACE PLY.

8. Trim as needed to allow the new Pin Latch Assembly, P/N 07BC-54-200-1 or H3-
1714-2, to fit centered in opening. Maintain a maximum clearance of .01 inch on
either side of the dimension shown in Figure 7.

CAUTION: TO PREVENT RUNNING OUT OF EDGE DISTANCE WHEN DRILLING THE NEW
HOLES FOR THE SCREWS, DO NOT TRIM MORE THAN IS NECESSARY TO
ALLOW THE LATCH TO FIT IN THE CUTOUT.

9. Using 220 grit (or finer) sand paper remove any paint and filler from the Latch Trim
Plate recess.

CAUTION: DO NOT SAND INTO THE SURFACE PLY.

10. Countersink both sides of the holes to a minimum 100° and a depth no greater than
.030 inch.
11. Clean holes and fill with Hysol 9430 adhesive.
12. Observe manufactures recommendation for cure time and process. Sand surfaces
smooth with 220 (or finer) grit sand paper.

13. Locate and drill holes for the new Pin Latch Assembly, P/N 07BC-54-200-1 or H3-
1714-2. Final hole size is Ø.166 inch (+.005/-.000).

14. On exterior surfaces, per Required Materials List:
a. Apply one (1) coat of Anti-Static Coating per provided instructions.
b. Apply one (1) coat of Epoxy Primer.
c. Apply top coat(s) as required.
15. On interior surfaces, per Required Materials List:
a. Apply one (1) coat of Epoxy Primer.
b. Apply one (1) coat of white Polyurethane Topcoat.

Anti-static Coating Application Instructions


1. Mix coating per manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Apply coating to a thickness of .004 to .008 inch.
3. Allow coating to stand at room temperature for 15 minutes minimum
prior to curing.
4. Cure as shown in following table (temperature is optional).

16. Install Pin Latch Assembly, P/N 07BC-54-200-1 or H3-1714-2. Fay surface seal
using Sealant per Required Materials List. Remove excess squeeze out.

17. Adjust Latch Receiver Assemblies, P/N 85-3520-091 and 85-3520-092 as


necessary.
a. Loosen screws and nuts enough to allow movement and hold position while the
assembly is adjusted.
b. For initial adjustment, press clay against the Latch Receptacle Assembly.
c. Close the door and close Latch Lever enough to leave an impression in the clay.
d. Move the Latch Receiver to center the Bushing on the location of the clay
impression.
e. Repeat Steps b thru d as necessary to achieve proper pin engagement.
f. Tighten the nuts and bolts.
g. To check for a proper seal, place a sheet of paper between the door and seal. Shut
the door and close the latches. The paper should hold firm when pulled. Repeat
test along the periphery of the door. Move the Latch Receptacle Assemblies down
as necessary to achieve a proper seal.
