III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Prayer

Before anything else, let us pray and ask guidance

with our Heavenly Father.

Ms. Morales please lead the prayer. (Ms. Morales lead the prayer)

Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning, Ms. Villarin! We are

glad to see you!

Please pick up all the pieces of paper under your (Students will pick up all the pieces
chair. of paper or mess on their
perspective area)

Checking of Attendance

Ms. Castro, the monitor of the class. Who are Ma’am I’m glad to say that no one
absents for today? is absent for today.
A. Activity Knowledge

Learning Task 1- Review

Before we proceed to our lesson, let’s have a The bacteria and protozoa
review about unicellular organism. Can you give me
an example of a unicellular organism?

Excellent, what else? Ma’am, unicellular fungi or yeast

Yes. That’s correct! And why are they called They are called unicellular
unicellular organism? organisms because they are single-
celled organisms.

Very good. These unicellular organisms are single-

celled and also called prokaryotes. Now, do you Bacteria
have any idea if what is the smallest type of
unicellular organism?

You’re right!

Are there any questions about our past lesson? None

Learning Task 2- Motivation

Class, I have here a chart of the four box synectics (students will group into four and
organizer with an item provided. I will group you into brainstorm a sentences)
four groups. I will give three minutes to each group
to brainstorm a sentence using the items on the
boxes.

(Reveal the sentence)

"Bacteria is like a _____ because…"

three minutes, each group will choose the two

sentences they like the best to share with the rest
of the class.

"Bacteria is like a fingerprint

because they are unique and will
never change since they born."
FINGERPRINT INSECT

"Bacteria is like an insect because

some are useful but some are
PAINT AIR
harmful to humans. "
"Bacteria is like a paint because
they cover every surface."

"Bacteria is like an air because they

are everywhere"

Very good class, let’s give them a Fireworks clap.

B. Lesson Proper

Learning Task 3- Activity

Now class let’s have a group activity. As you can

see I have here four envelopes. Inside the
envelope there have a special task to do.

I will divide you into four groups. Each group has a

picture of one kind of bacteria and also there is
information regarding to that bacteria. Don’t forget
that you need to answer the following questions
that were given.

I will give you 10 minutes to answer the activity

and present it to the class.

Is it clear? Is there any clarification? Yes, it is, no further questions

ma’am.

Guide Questions:

1. What is the shape of the bacteria?

2. Is it pathogenic or not?
3. Give its role to the human or in the other
organisms.

Group 1

1. The shape of the bacteria is

round shape which is called cocci.
2. Yes, it is pathogenic
3. Its role is to cause many
diseases such skin infections,
pneumonia and food poisoning to
humans and also in other
organisms.
Group 2

1. The shape of the bacteria is rod

shape which is called bacilli.
2. No
3. It is a good bacterium that can
be found in human intestines and
mouth to improve digestion of
human.

Group 3

1. The shape of the bacteria is rod

shape which is called bacilli.
2. Yes, it is.
3. Salmonella can have found in
raw meats, poultry, eggs, sprouts,
fruit and vegetables. If a person
and animals digest a food that is
contaminated it can be poison.

Group 4

1. The shape of the bacteria is

spiral shape which is called
spirillum.
2. No.
3. It exists as a plankton and known
for the nitrogen-fixing abilities. They
can also form symbiotic
relationships with certain plants
such as mosquito fern.

Learning Task 4- Analysis

In the activity that you present, can you tell me the

different shapes of the bacteria? Anyone from the Rod shaped called bacilli, round
group? shaped called cocci and the spiral
shaped also called spirillum.
Yes, very good!
What are the evidences or proof that bacteria are
alive? They can move, reproduce and eat.

What are pathogens?

The bacteria that can make us sick
or can harm us.
What are the common pathogenic bacteria?
Ma’am Pathogenic E. coli which is
found in ground beef, contaminated
fruits and vegetables, Salmonella
which is found in raw meats,
poultry, eggs, sprouts, fruit and
vegetables and Listeria which is
Found in deli foods, lunch meats,
smoked fish and vegetables.

Very good class! Give yourself a good job clap.

Learning Task 5- Abstraction

Students again, what are bacteria?

Ma’am bacteria are the smallest
unicellular organism.

What are the different shapes of bacteria?

Rod shaped called bacilli, round
shaped called cocci and the spiral
shaped also called spirillum.

Can you give an example of good or bad bacteria?

Pediococcus, Pathogenic E. coli ,
Lactobacillus casei, Salmonella,
Leuconostoc cremoris, Listeria ,
Lactobacillus bulgaricus,
Staphylococcus
How would you tell the importance of bacteria
based on your understanding? (The answers of the students may
vary)
Excellent! It means that you are really listening to
the topic.

Learning Task 6- Application

Direction: Bring out a piece of bond paper and draw

the different shapes of bacteria. (students will now draw)
VI. Evaluation

Direction: Bring out ¼ piece of paper. Match the items in column A with
the items in column

A
B
1. Bacteria that can cause many diseases
such skin infections, pneumonia and food a. E. coli
poisoning. b. Lactobacillus casei
2. It is found in human intestines and mouth c. Staphylococcus
to improve digestion d. Salmonella
3. A kind of bacteria that is known for e. Anabaena Spiroides
nitrogen-fixing abilities.
4. It is found in ground beef, contaminated
fruits and vegetables
5. Bacteria which is found in raw meats,
poultry, eggs, sprouts, fruit and
vegetables.

V. Assignment

1. What is multicellular organisms?

2. How multicellular organisms evolved?
3. Why are multicellular organisms made of many cells?
