PROCEDURES

1. The aggregate in the oven is dried for four hours at a constant temperature 150±5 °C.
2. The aggregate is cooled before start the experiment.
3. The aggregate is sieved and the portion passing 14mm is obtained and retained on
10mm sieve. The aggregate is obtained for 3 samples enough.
4. The weight of the cylindrical measure is measured (Ma).
5. The aggregate is filled in the cylindrical measure in 3 layers, each layers tapped 25
times with the tamping rod at 50mm height from surface of sample.

6. The surplus aggregates are stuck off using the tamping rod as straight edge.
7. The weight of cylindrical measure that contains sample of the aggregate is measured
(Msa).
8. The weight of sample is calculated (M1).
9. The hammer is raised until its lower face is 380mm above the upper surface of the
aggregates in the cup, and allowed to fall freely on the aggregates. The test sample is
subjected to a total 15 such blows, each being delivered at an interval of not less than
one second.
10. The sample of aggregate is removed from the cylindrical measure and sieve through
2.36mm sieve. The small particle of the aggregate is removed by using brush.

11. The weight passing 2.36mm sieve (M3) and retained 2.36mm sieve (M2) is measured.
12. If the total weight (M2+M3) is different than the initial weight (M1) by more than one
gram, the result should be discarded and do another sample.
13. The experiment is repeated by using the wet aggregate as the sample.
