Our history

BoConcept is the brand name of Denmark's most global furniture chain with more than
60 years experience and 300 showrooms in 60 countries around the world.

1952
The company is founded by two Danish craftsmen and cabinet makers,
Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm. The first pieces of furniture to leave the
factory are cabinets made of oak veneer with a mid-section of walnut.

1976
The company changes its name to Denka with a view to conquer the
international markets. The collections are now also designed to suit the
individual tastes of different markets, and the furniture is now what you
can all 'customised to the market'.

1993
The first BoConcept showroom opens in Belle Epine, Paris. Another
seven showrooms are opened in France, China and USA. The Basic wall
system is designed and receives a lot of attention because of its high
level of modularity and the finish of mdf with clear lacquer.

2002
A new strategy is launched: One company - One brand. And a new
vision is defined: To make BoConcept brand no. 1 within interior design.
This milestone effectively moves the company from being production
oriented to becoming concept holder for an international furniture chain.
The fully automated European Distribution Centre is put into operation,
and the company welcomes CFO Hans Barslund as new member of the
executive board.

2012
The group continues to grow in spite of the financial crisis and now has
its third distribution centre in Shanghai to help the expansion strategy
in Asia. The shop online is now open for customers on the website. In
the company's 60th anniversary year, Viggo Mølholm resigns as CEO
to become Chairman, and Torben Paulin is appointed new CEO for the
group that now boasts more than 300 showrooms worldwide.

Challenge: The architects on the project needed the
possibility to personalise every single piece of furniture
of the interior concept. Bogotá Colombia
Solution: To meet the customer’s needs, the Indivi
sofa was chosen due to its great flexibility making
every single sofa unique while still keeping within a
coordinated colour and design scheme for the entire
project.

Morten Georgsen
When I create multifunctional pieces, the challenge is to
maintain the style and 'the simple is best' philosophy. The
simplest, most modest look is by far the most complicated
thing to achieve.

Challenge: The customer wanted to achieve a private
and individual atmosphere for his VIPs by changing the
furniture within a limited budget frame. Shanghai China
Solution: We choose Mezzo and Fargo in elegant Bahia
leather to create a luxury feeling in one space and
Cenova in the more afforable, yet durable Sazza and
Nu fabrics to keep within the project budget.

Reference Case
Neos Imagineering
Challenge: At the TIC fair in Geneva the stand for the

Nantes France ministry of telecommunications of Saudi Arabia needed

to furnish a 1000 m2 area in all white furniture, sofas,
chairs and barstools. With a short delivery deadline it
became a big challenge to deliver all the items on time,
but nonetheless needed.

Solution: To cover the big area a total of 25 sofas,

65 barstool and 65 chairs in all white where chosen
together with the decorating agency. In a great
collaboration with BoConcept Headquarter we
managed to reach the delivery by delivering directly
to Geneva. Every deadline and expectations was fully
achieved.

Challenge: The apartment is beautiful with warm and

Berlin Germany inviting features such as wooden floors and frames

around many big windows that invites lots of light into
the rooms. The challenge was to enhance these natural
details and turn the open living/dining space into a
harmonious and coherent interior.

Solution: The colour grey was used as the neutral base

for a calm and very elegant match to the wood and to
tie in the open living/dining space. Playing with different
textures in fabrics, leathers, rugs and chairs gives the
space a warm home feeling. The rugs define the areas
of the room. To enhance the light that floods in from all
the windows, a glass dining table and very light-style
lamps were chosen to allow visibility through the room.
