RESUMEN
Abstract
The Infectious Bovine Rinotracheitis, IBR is a contagious disease that affects the bovine caused
by a DNA virus of the family HERPESVIRIDAE. The aim of this study was to determine the
seroprevalence of Infectious Bovine Rinotracheitis (IBR) in farms of Leon and Chinandega
departments, the analysis was realized from samples of blood using the indirect ELISA for the
determination of IBRgB antibodies, the ELISA test was realized by a commercial Kit, (IDEXX®).
Materials and Methods: 384 samples of blood were taken in whole, divided in 323 samples
taken in Leon and 61 samples in Chinandega. Results: Be Being 256 positive samples to IBR
equivalent to 64 % of seroprevalence in Leon and Chinandega. The results show a high
seroprevalence of IBR in the geographical studied zones. Conclusions: This number is very
much major that the reported for the Program of Epidemiological Alertness of Animal Health
(PROVESA, 2001) of Nicaragua.
