I. Introduction and Summary of Martial Law

On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand E. Marcos placed the Philippines

under Martial Law. The declaration issued under Proclamation 1081 suspended the

civil rights and imposed military authority in the country. Marcos defended the

declaration stressing the need for extra powers to quell the rising wave of violence

allegedly caused by communists. The emergency rule was also intended to eradicate

the roots of rebellion and promote a rapid trend for national development. The

autocrat assured the country of the legality of Martial Law emphasizing the need for

control over civil disobedience that displays lawlessness. Marcos explained citing the

provisions from the Philippine Constitution that Martial Law is a strategic approach

to legally defend the Constitution and protect the welfare of the Filipino people from

the dangerous threats posed by Muslim rebel groups and Christian vigilantes that

places national security at risk during the time. Marcos explained that martial law

was not a military takeover but was then the only option to resolve the country’s

dilemma on rebellion that stages national chaos threatening the peace and order of

the country. The emergency rule, according to Marcos’s plan, was to lead the country

into what he calls a “New Society”.

II. Learnings

Based on my research, I’ve learned in this proclamation is some of Filipino are still in

painful specially those Filipinos born way back ‘90s because they cannot protect

themselves because of the suspension of Freedom of speech they will be killed by the

civilians if they are against in the government rules. And I’ve also learned that the

dictatorship strengthened the economic and social oligarchy, gap within Filipinos and

in this era is deepened the cronyism and the foreign dependency in our country.

Based on the bad things happened way back then I learn that Politics in the
Philippines is seen as a safe avenue to easy money, that’s why Filipino now are very

keen in choosing the right leaders who will serve the country well I think that Pres.

Marcos serve as an eye-opener to the nation, Filipinos now are carefully look into

new generation politician with grain of salt so that we cannot experience the old

administration which is lack of freedom.

III. Analysis and Recommendation

My concept about Martial law is a lesson for our country to elect a well deserve

person who will serve whole heartedly and protect all Filipinos.

The implication of Martial law to business economy during the first years of martial

law, the economy benefited from increased stability, and business confidence was

bolstered by Pres. Marcos's appointment of talented technocrats to economic

planning posts but after his term the Philippines was afflicted with widespread

corruption and vast unemployment. There was widespread poverty, along with a few

sectors of great wealth. In the case of Computer Science and Information System the

implication of Martial law is informing the organization on what is happening in our

country during that proclamation so that the people will be aware. Information

system is one of the important in our country because it is the collection of facts and

news that the Filipinos should be aware specially those Filipinos who are not born

during the Martial law. Because in the use of information system it is now a history

of the Philippines that you can search it through your devices.

Martial law can be implemented as a restriction just to protect all Filipinos not to be

corrupt and kill people. If the Martial law will be implemented by the President, we

hope that our country is not limited in our freedom because in our new generation

Filipino wants to express themselves in their own way without hindrances.

My views about the countries who are restricting to their citizen in using the internet

access is Freedom House notes that globally internet censorship is on the rise. It seems

that censoring countries have become trendsetters of sorts, with restrictions of the

internet apparently becoming something to aspire to. This is wrong for various

reasons because In this day and age we have become accustomed to the fact that

pretty much all the information and services we need are available at our fingertips.

The internet permeates virtually all aspects of our lives. It has become an integral part

in our education at schools and universities. in how we consume news, communicate,

and voice our opinions; and it provides easy access to almost every kind of service

imaginable and ranging from transportation. My recommendation with this they

should maximize the protection against internet without restricting the opportunities

and benefit of the internet.

IV. Application

People who are over use of internet are those people who is abusing the internet. They

are hacking the important information of a person to use it in bad doings. For me I

am very disappointed in this case because they ruin the positive outcome in accessing

the internet they did not think that internet is very useful in our daily lives. It helps

us to communicate with our love ones. For me I am not agree with the restriction of

internet because many people who needs it than those people who are abusing the

internet so that without restricting we can use the benefit of the internet by doing

good things not abusing it. For those people who is continuing abusing the use of

internet are gaining the attention of others.

V. Conclusion

I therefore conclude that Martial Law has a Good and Bad side with our country

because it depends upon the person who experience the Proclamation of Martial Law

in 1972-1980. Martial law left a moral lesson in our country like electing well

deserve President.

Those scenarios that has a good impact in our country within the business and

information technology such as Filipinos are more aware in our economy and the

wise of technology like accessing the internet. Without information technology

Millennials are still not aware with the Martial Law during the Pres. Marcos era.

What I said in the Applications internet can be regulated but not restricted because

we are wasting the time that we can collect data with in our society if we restricted

the use of internet. For me internet cannot be Martial because internet has a big

impact in our daily lives because it helps us a lot such as easier collecting data,

communicate with our families and be aware what is happening in our country or in

our society.
