What are special angles?

-Special angles are angles whose measures are 30, 45, or 60. They are coined special angles
because when used in a right triangle, their sine, cosine, and tangents are easily calculated using the
hand trick.

To make a 60 degrees angle, you first start with a line (preferably horizontal). Use the compass opened
at 1/3 the distance of the line and make a semicircle with the end point of the line as the center. Move
your compass to the point in which the semicircle intersects with your line and make another semicircle.
Using a straight edge, connect the end point to the point in which the two semicircles intersect.

And there you have it, a 60 degrees angle

To make a 30 degrees angle, first follow the instructions to make a 60 degrees angle. Second, make a
larger semicircle with the intersection of the line and the first semicircle as the center using a compass.
You then make another semicircle with the intersection of the first two semicircles as the center. Lastly,
you connect the end point to the intersection of the third and fourth semicircles using a straight edge.
To make a 90 degrees angle, first follow the instructions to make a 60 degrees angle. Make another
semicircle with the intersection of the first two semicircles as the center. Then make two semicircles
with the two semicircle intersections as the centers. Connect the latest intersection you created to the
end point using a straight edge.

To make a 45 degrees angle, first follow the instructions to make a 90 degrees angle. Make two new
semicircles using the intersections of the perpendicular lines to the first semicircle as the centers. This
will create an intersection of the semicircles; connect this intersection to the end point using a straight
edge.

TO BISECT AN ANGLE…..make a semicircle with the vertex as the single. Make two more semicircles with
the intersections made by the first semicircle as the centers. Using a straight edge, connect the vertex to
the semicircle intersection you just created.
