occasion I will report on drought in Gunung Kidul

Although there were no additional villages and sub-districts affected by drought in

Gunungkidul District, there was an increase in the intensity of water dropping.

Currently the number of villages affected by drought is 11 sub-districts of 54

villages with a total of 116,216 people affected by drought.

"Indeed there is an additional intensity of water delivery," said the chief

executive of the Gunungkidul Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Edy Basuki
when contacted by Tribunjogja.com, Thursday (08/02/2018).
He said areas that were not too affected, such as Saptosari and Melikan
Subdistrict, Rongkop Sub-district, had begun to increase the amount of water
dropping.

"The two sub-districts and one village were initially not too affected because of
the pipeline channel from the PDAM, but now they have requested additional water
dropping," he said.

He said private assistance was very helpful for people affected by previous
droughts, there were several private companies that helped dropping water.

"Coordination between BPBD and the private sector is urgently needed so that there
is no double dropping of water, and can evenly distribute water distribution. So as
to accelerate the dropping process back to the location," he said.

He said areas that were not too affected, such as Saptosari and Melikan
Subdistrict, Rongkop Sub-district, had begun to increase the amount of water
dropping.

He said that every day BPBD conducts 24 tank water dropping.

Mentioned about the proposal of the minister of village development, underdeveloped
areas and transmigration regarding village funds to build a reservoir according to
him village funds were still not enough to make a reservoir.
