Sermon Script on the Occasion of “Thanks Giving of New House”

Psalm 127:1- Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain who build it. Unless the
LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Introduction

In the life of human beings, the three main things that what we need is food, clothe and
house. It is essential to have these three things complete human life.

As I have read the scripture, constructing the house without the witness of God is nothing. If
the house is big or small, it will be constructed with the righteousness. In Matthew 7:24-25,
Jesus compare the people who knows His words and obey is likes a wise man who builds a
house upon the rock. This is a parable, but we can see that constructing a house with
righteousness is stable. In Habakkuk 2:9, ‘Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house,
that he may set his nest on high, which he may be delivered from the power of disaster’, this
passage clearly shows that the house will be holy, who covets evil gain for his house may be
delivered from the power of disaster.

New house should be dedicated unto God:

Deuteronomy 20:5 “Then the officers shall speak to the people, saying: ‘What man is there
who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest
he dies in the battle and another man dedicates it”. From this scripture, it is clear that God’s
care about the dedication of a new house. Therefore, in our today’s life, dedicating a new
house is still important, especially for the Christian family. We should surely dedicate our
new house unto God.

The importance of dedicating a new house:

1. Malachi 2:15 “But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And
why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none
deal treacherously with the wife of his youth”. It is very important to dedicate a new

house unto God for setting up a Christian family. Without dedicating a house, it is
difficult to receive the blessings from God.
2. Joshua 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves
this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were
on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD”. It is very important to
dedicate a new house unto God for serving the LORD as a whole family.
3. Isaiah 60:12 “For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, and
those nations shall be utterly ruined”. All the nations is made by a family, it means
that a family who does not serve the LORD will be ruined. Therefore, the house is a
starting point to serve the Lord as a family, we have to dedicate it.
4. Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him”. It is very important to
dedicate a new house in the name Jesus and thanksgiving to the Lord. This is the
source of receiving blessings from God.

Conclusion

Many intellectual persons said that House is the first place of learning, and it must be the
place for teaching and directing the family members to live a righteous life according to the
Word of God. It is one of the most important places for having a victorious life, so therefore,
we must be thankful and must dedicate our House to God, so that we might be able to teach
and learn the way of living a genuine Christian Life.
