Library is the important part of school and it should be found in it. Fully
equipped school library will always try to add book collection and always
following the expansion era which will be the center media or learning source for
student to optimize the reading interest and motivation. School library condition
need to be increased by organizer empowerment, tools and also divining manual
matters collection which is in every years will be increased. However, everything
will be a dilemma whenever the library is not formed well, moreover, when the
library is not arranged interestingly. Although, the book is the knowledge storage,
if the student motivation of reading interest is decreased, then the book will be the
accumulation and place decoration only. Setting out from this background the
researcher then wants to investigate this thesis and take” Library Service
Optimization for Rising Motivation of Reading Interest in MIN 2 of Malang “as
the title.
The purpose of this study: (1) Describing the library optimization in MIN 2
of Malang. (2) Describing the increase of student motivation in reading interest at
MIN 2 Malang.
For reaching mentioned purpose, the researcher used qualitative approach
and descriptive method. Research subject is the librarian and student in MIN 2 of
Malang. Data collection method in this research used observation technique,
interview and documentation. Data analysis method used in this research is data
collection, reduction, presentation and verification/ conclusion.
The result of the study can be concluded that, (1) library service
optimization in MIN 2 Malang is in optimizing the library that is come from
library empowerment side including library room circumstances (broad space
room/ reading room, neat shelf book structuring and wall decoration increment),
professional librarian, book supplying/increment / divining manual collection,
service circulation and library’s rule of MIN 2 Malang. (2) the motivation of
student reading interest in MIN 2 Malang is excellent, beside using library to
distribute student interest and reading passion, learning activity in school also
exist which has firm relation with the strength of student motivation in reading
interest, that is: determining the policy of program increment in reading interest
motivation and providing the facilities for carrying out the program increment in
reading interest and passion.
