A moslem doctor always applies Al-Qur’an and Islamic living concept in doing
practical work. One day, his patient asked him what an Islamic Medical Faculty graduate is.
Patient also asked him about the controversional opinions of brushing teeth during fasting.

1. What is definition of moslem doctor?

1. What is definition of moslem doctor?
 According of journal. Moslem doctor is doctor who apply Al-Qur’an and as
sunnah. Apply Islamic rules in their medical work, a doctor who the latest
medical and health who apply Islamic principal.
 A moslem doctor in general is a giood character who combine from scientic
with moral quality. Moslem doctor is one faithfully observes one’s relationship
with Allah and the other fellow human being and the environment.
2. What is different moslem doctor and doctor in general?
 Doctor moslem who doing his/her practical work according to the Al-Qur’an
and as sunnah.
 Doctor in general is doing his/her practical work without the confidence of
religion.
3. What is the charactheristic of moslem doctor?
 Possesing good aqidah and ambracing true faith.
 Being sincere and diligent in performing work
 Skillfull in his profesion and speciallzation
 Being honest in attitude and work (shiddiq)
 Repectfull, humble, and helpful
 Shiddiq, amanah, fatonah, tablig,istiqomah
 Have practice the pillar of faith and harmony of islam
 Believing that everything has been arrage by Allah SWT
 Good personalism honor excellent altrurism respect to other and honestly
4. Why moslem doctor apply Al-Quran and Islamic living concept? Give a reason?
 Foundation of Islamic ethics is Al-Qur’an and hadist
 Al-Qur’an is advice to moslem
 Al-Qur’an is a guide to life.
5. What is Islamic living concept in doing practical work?
 Al-Qur’an and hadist(as-sunnah)
 Example dalil : Al Quran Ali-imron :110 “You are the best of people envolved
for mankind enjoyning what is right forbidding what is wrong and believing in
Allah”
6. Why is the patient ask the doctor what an Islamic medical faculty he is graduate?
 Have an impact on their perception of personal and professional characteristic
of a good moslem doctor
 Cause doctor apply Al-Qur’an and as sunnah
 Cause different perspective between the patient and the doctor like example
Muhammadiyah and NU.
 Moslem doctor better than doctor general cause many charactheristic in islam
  Cause the patient want to know about law brushing during fasting
 The patient will reassuring his/her health problem in islam
7. What the law Brushing teeth during fasting in islam?
 This is Makruh, cause that is very difficult add to avoid, Ibnu Abbas : THE
FAST invalidated by what enters the internal stomach internal cavity. Al-
Ma’arif, page 195 : “Makruh, one of them al-sawak for after duhur, cause feared
would cause water incree into the oral activity”
 Permisseble an Estemblished practice of propet Muhammad SAW (Mubah)
8. Its permissible to use a tooth brush and tooth paste while fasting or not and what is the
reason?
 We able to brushing tooth but we shouldn’t use tooth paste cause the tooth paste
have a tasty.
 Syeikh Muhammad Al-Salih ask, and the answer its permitted but its preferable
not to use them cause the tooth is to strong and may go down into the troath.
Inside to during, we can do brushing teeth with tooth paste at night. More
important is brushing teeth not using tooth paste.
 Use tooth paste its ok, but tooth paste not enter to oral.

9. What is the respond to the controversial opinion about brushing your teeth while
fasting?
 Its okay, cause in islam its mubah/makruh
 We Must Appreciate Any Different Opinion.
 Brushing teeth doesn’t invalidat the fast original and water in the mouth isn’t
ingested
 We Should be avoid brushing our teeth cause that means that we are protective
our self for the things that cancel fasting.
 Brushing teeth is recommended, before prayer and after sahur, after
breakfasting.
10. When we will brush while we fasting? Give a hadist?
 After breakfasting and sahur
 Abu-Hurairah: said,“Its not burdensome for my people, surely they order them
to brush they teeth everytime that pray” (HR. Al Bukhari No.887)
11. Why doesn’t the tooth brush cancel the fast?
 Because during not swallow the tooth paste. The water and the tooth paste (but,
if intentionally its okat, InsyaAllah)
12. There is another way besides tooth brush during fasting?
 Brush your teeth withouth toost paste when fasting
 By using As-Sawak, cuse its Sunnah (The propet Muhammad, Rabiah : I see
Rasullulah on countless ocation brushing his teeth by siwak while he was in the
state of fasting)
 Using mouth wash when sahur
