recycled soaps and shampoos to deliver to those who are homeless or in shelters in the
Panhandle. They send out shipments every day and are working with The Red Cross and
Salvation Army to distribute them. They have opportunities to volunteer as early as this

Feeding Children Everywhere in Longwood has also set up a Hurricane Relief fund.
The non-profit will be packing up boxes of shelf-stable foods to send to Hurricane

WCSO SEEKING INFORMATION ON SUSPECT
WANTED FOR ARMED BURGLARY AND
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Walton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a suspect following an
armed burglary of an occupied dwelling and aggravated battery in Freeport.
At approximately 6:30 AM this morning, Walton County Sheriff’s Office
deputies responded to a call in reference to an armed burglary and aggravated
assault at the 14000 block of 331 Business in Freeport. The victim stated a man
came inside her home and threatened her and her son with a weapon.
The suspect initially fled on foot, but is believed to be traveling the area in a
beat-up, older model sedan, possibly a Toyota, gold or silver in color with gold or
silver spray paint covering the dents on the vehicle. The back windshield was
busted out and is covered in an unknown material.
The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair standing approximately
6’0 wearing camouflage jacket, blue jeans and tan shoes. The suspect has black
tattoos covering his arms, hands and chest. He also has a surgical scar stretching
from his sternum just below his bellybutton with fresh staples as observed by a
witness from a previous encounter with the suspect.

Walton County – The Health Advisory is issued for Morrison Springs.
The Advisory is issued based on the criteria for fecal indicator bacteria.
This should be considered a potential health risk to the bathing public and swimming is
not recommended. Samples taken are above the public health threshold for fecal
indicator bacteria. Water quality exceedances are based upon the US Environmental
Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended standard of no more than 61 Enterococci
CFU/100mL, or 235 E. coli CFU/100mL in any single sample.
The water will be re-sampled next week. When re-sampling indicates that the water is
within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.
The Florida Department of Health in Walton County monitors monthly water samples
submitted by public bathing places during their operation season. The water samples are
being analyzed for enteric bacteria (fecal coliform enterococci or E. coli) that normally
inhabit the intestinal tract of humans and warm- blooded animals, and indicate the
presence of pathogens which may cause swimming related diseases including
gastrointestinal disease, ear and eye ailments, and skin rashes and infections.
The presence of fecal indicator bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, which may
come from storm water runoff, domestic pets, wildlife, and human waste (sewage).
Sampling is also conducted by other county health departments at marine beaches and
results can be found at Department of Health's Beach Water Quality website at http://
www.floridahealth.gov/environmental-health/beach-water-quality/index.html

Obituary-Paula Darlene Croteau
passed away October 2, 2018 at 4:07 AM, with her
husband Michael Croteau, daughter Ciara
Cole-Croteau, and family friend Jake Reeves at her
bedside. Her and Michael have been in love since
1979. She survived 57 years, with their anniversary
on October 6.
She was born and raised in Deerfield, New
Hampshire. February 17, 1961 is her date of birth.
John and Elizabeth Cole are her deceased parents.
Paula is survived by her husband Michael Croteau
(60), Her brother's Gary Cole (71), Ronald Cole
(68), and John Cole (66). Her sister Pamela Cole-
Bruce (64). Her children Tanya Odom (38)James
Odom, Ciara Cole-Croteau (28), Tiffany Croteau &
Dakota Croteau (26), and Fallon Croteau (25). Her
eleven grandchildren Logan Odom (14), Shane
Odom (11), Jax Bishop (8), Xavier Croteau (7),
Madaleine Morin (5), Aiden Croteau (5), Margaret
Morin (4), Lucus Croteau (4), Carson Croteau (2),
Dexter Morin (1), Zachary Morin and Oakley
Earnest (Newborn).
Paula was blessed with Oakley Paul Richard
Earnest on September 30, 2018.
From the beloved parents Fallon Croteau and
Joshua Earnest. She held her newest grandson the
day before her passing. She was an angelic being
who touched many hearts. Including those at Delta
Health Care Rehab.
She dedicated over 20 years of her life there, where
she meet some of her best friends.
Kimberly Stewart, Bertha Beaver and June
Woodyard. Her lifelong friend was Iva Mandigo.
Paula was truly a gift to have on this earth. She is
now a blessing in heaven.

us who was not as fortunate, we are doing what
we can as a city to help those who are suffering
and in need, it will take many months for them to
recover and get back on their feet, please keep
them in your prayers and reach out when you can.
A crew of 21 from Freeport went to the Town
of Malone on Saturday and made a big difference
in helping open their roadways for the citizens to
be able to get around and we took supplies that
had been donated to help with their needs.
Many Thanks to all of those who did lend a
helping hand the Town of Malone they greatly
appreciated all the efforts. We are currently
working with the High School on “Stuffing the
Bus” with supplies to also take to a needed area,
drop off your items at the high school or here at

Rick Stanfield – i can and i will
I couldn’t help feeling guilty this week as we were forecasted to take a direct
hit from Hurricane Michael. While we watched the Weather Channel, Mi-
chael barreled his way north directly towards the Florida Panhandle. There
was absolutely no situation that could save us from damage, destruction, and
possibly loss of life, yet Michael decided to shift east ten miles leaving us to
simply deal with the outer bands. Long story short, we had minimal dam-
age, a few power outages and about 15 miles east of us, there was total dev-
astation. The strongest storm to hit the Florida Panhandle had left devasta-
tion that you cannot imagine, but we will rebound.
Situations like this bring out the best in people. As diverse as we all are, we
are all children of God. We are all brothers and sisters, and when we are
faced with loss and devastation beyond belief, those little things we argue
about seem so petty. We bond together and help our neighbors. We help
our brothers and sisters in need without questioning their political party, how
much money they have, or the color of their skin. Those boundaries no
longer exist, and we use the resources and talents that God gave us to do the
work He intended for us to do.
Michael, you may have torn down a home, destroyed landscape and property
unimaginable, and even taken lives, but you will not weaken the human
spirit. In fact, you made us stronger.
I believe that God does not cause these events in our lives, but He knows
they’ll happen and His presence is shown in the people who show up to help.
He gives us the ability to weather the storm. All the good you’re seeing in
people is God making us stronger than ever.

Momentum

The quantity of motion of a moving body, measured as a product of its mass and velocity.
Whoa!! That sounds technical and you know what? It is.
I have watched my Atlanta Braves score 6 runs in the first inning, and somehow, I wasn’t
comfortable with that lead. The other team would score 1 run here and another 2 there, and
somehow you could feel the momentum changing. I would sit on my couch screaming at the
top of my lungs. Even when they still had the lead, you knew they were about to blow it.
Sometimes in life the momentum is working to your benefit, and we love it! Other times, it
seems like we’re on a freefall from an airplane with no parachute.
There are not many feelings like having everything fall into place, and it seems like there’s
nothing that can go right when your world falls apart. The answer is to not let either get the
best of you. When everything is going right, we tend to let up, and we don’t fight with that
enthusiasm we had to start that upward momentum. Then when our situation crumbles, we
throw our hands in the air and give up.
Give God the praise for your blessings, and when bad things happen, stop, take a deep breath,
go back to the God-given gifts that brought you the blessings. This will bring an end to the
freefall. We make the mistake of thinking we can deal with the downfall ourselves when we
can’t. If you think that streak of good luck was all you, that’s your first mistake. Just as you
cannot come back from a bad situation, you would have never had the streak of luck without
Him.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is our enemy. When I was struggling during our time of homelessness, I found
myself stalling. I didn’t want to deal with the problems I was drowning in, so I said, “I’ll get
started tomorrow”. Soon I noticed I was putting off everything until tomorrow.
It made sense. Who wants to deal with a bad situation now?
The problem is, you are disrespecting the life God blessed you with. Bad things happen, but
God has given all of us the talent and wisdom to deal with it.
There are many reasons for procrastination, including depression, anxiety, and simply, your
personality. Many perfectionists procrastinate.
They’d rather not do it, than to do it and have it not be perfect.
If you’re sleeping late, if you’re phone is not ringing, or if you don’t want to face the day,
please do this for me.
1. Get up early.
2. Be kind to every person you meet that day, even if they don’t deserve it.
3. Do your best at whatever task is in front of you.
4. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
5. Create something. A note to yourself. Paint a picture. Draw your happy place on a
scrap sheet of paper. Make a new friend. Write a letter to your loved ones.
Do these things TODAY, not tomorrow. After a few days, your phone will be ringing.
You’ll get calls from people who just want to talk to you because you make them feel better.
Your job will get easier, and people will be volunteering to help you.
New friends will be knocking at your door, simply because they want to be around you.
Be a ray of light to every person you encounter!

dropped in twisted shards. In a parking lot, truck
trailers were scattered like a child’s toys.

completely disappeared beneath a jungle of fallen
trees. Next to a demolished warehouse, someone

shot.”After witnessing so many storms, Mr. Trump
has begun to sound like an amateur meteorologist.
He emphasized, for example, the fine differences
between Florence, which stalled in North Carolina,
inundating the state with record-shattering rain, and
Michael, which raced through Florida in a few
hours but with deadly winds of 155 miles per hour.
“Somebody said it was like a very wide, extremely
wide tornado,” Mr. Trump said, as he stood next to
Gov. Rick Scott of Florida and Brock Long, the
administrator of the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, who have both become
familiar figures on these tours. “These are massive
trees that have been just ripped out of the earth,”
Mr. Trump said, pointing to a tangle of uprooted
pines. “We’ve seen mostly water. And water can be
very damaging and scary, when you see water
rising 14 or 15 feet. But nobody’s ever seen
anything like this. This is really incredible.”
Pointing to his own experience as a homeowner in
Palm Beach, Fla., where he has the Mar-a-Lago
estate, he said, “We had years where we had none,
and then over the last couple of years we had more,
and hopefully we’ll go back to many years where

Ms. Simone Brady, who recently joined
the HRMC staff, is an Advanced
Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
who is fully trained and experienced in
diagnosing and treating women’s health issues.
An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is a
registered nurse who has completed a graduate-level educational
program, earning either a master's or doctoral degree, and
received advanced clinical training beyond that of a registered
nurse. ARNPs have also completed national certification and
have received periodic peer review, clinical outcome evaluations,
and adhere to a code for ethical practices.
Simone Brady, ARNP, has over 20 years of experience in
family medicine and treating patients of all ages. But she has a
special interest in women’s health. Ms. Brady is fully trained to
provide routine gynecological exams, treat patients with
symptoms associated with menopause and peri-menopause.
She also has experience treating women who need bio-identical
hormone replacement, as well as help with weight gain, poor
concentration, anxiety, depression, insomnia, birth control and
urinary incontinence. Ms. Brady can also perform pap smears and
provide contraception management, breast exams (with instruc-
tion in self-examinations). She can also screen, diagnose and treat
interstitial cystitis, as well as sexually-transmitted diseases.
Ms. Brady is also experienced in treating small children as
young as 18 months. Brady states that she is passionate about
optimizing her patient’s well-being and believes in the power of
preventative health care for all age groups.

White House officials are worried that the
apparent killing of the dissident journalist
Jamal Khashoggi, and Saudi Arabia’s changing
account of his fate, could derail a showdown
with Iran and jeopardize plans to enlist Saudi
help to avoid disrupting the oil market.
Officials said the dilemma comes at a fraught
moment for the Trump administration, which is
expected to reimpose harsh sanctions against
Iran on Nov. 5, with the intent of cutting off all
Iranian oil exports.
But to make the strategy work, the administra-
tion is counting on its relationship with the
Saudis to keep global oil flowing without
spiking prices, and to work together on a new
policy to contain Iran in the Persian Gulf.
If that carefully coordinated plan moves
forward, the Saudis would likely see a
significant increase in oil revenue at exactly the
moment Congress is talking about penalizing
the kingdom over the Khashoggi case. It is one
reason that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
was sent, with a few hours’ notice, to see King
Salman of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince
Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday. Part of the
problem is optics, officials said: Saudi Arabia
looks like a brutal ally, including by leading a
deadly military campaign in Yemen, just as
President Trump and Mr. Pompeo have been
casting Iran as the region’s bully. “It’s a neat
trick if you can both sanction a country and
partner with them at the same time,” “And it’s
not easy to keep the focus on Iran’s behavior
when the Saudis are doing terrible things to
journalists and dissidents, and bombing
children in Yemen.”After a phone call with
Prince Mohammed on Tuesday, Mr. Trump
said the kingdom’s rulers had again “totally
denied any knowledge” of Mr. Khashoggi’s
fate. He said the crown prince, who was with
Mr. Pompeo during the call, would expand an
investigation into Mr. Khashoggi’s disappear-
ance and suspected killing two weeks ago.
Mr. Khashoggi, a columnist for The
Washington Post, has not been seen since he
entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on Oct.

Khashoggi was murdered and his body
dismembered; Saudi officials denied any

FDA Bans Seven Artificial Food Flavorings

The FDA has banned the use of seven synthetic substances used to flavor or enhance
flavor in baked goods, ice cream, candy, beverages, and chewing gum.
Environmental and health advocacy groups sent data to the agency that showed that 6
of the substances cause cancer in lab animals, the FDA says, and the seventh flavor is
being removed from approved additives as it is no longer used by industry.
On a label, the substances are listed as ''artificial flavors," rather than their specific
names, according to the Environmental Defense Fund, one of the organizations that
petitioned to get the flavors outlawed. The substances are typically added to simulate
mint, cinnamon, and citrus.
