Teaching approach: the lesson is based on the communicative approach and
organized through the PPP procedure
ROUTINE: (2 minutes)
I will greet students, I will say: ‘hello! How are you?’ and I will write the date on the board.
Purpose: to greet my students and create a good atmosphere
We check it orally.
purpose: to revise items from the previous lesson
Once they have completed the chart, I will give them some minutes in order to make
sentences, for example: “she has to tidy the room”, “he doesn’t have to feed the dog”
I will explain students how to make the sentences, moreover I will write on the board a
positive and a negative sentence in order to help them when doing the activity.
Activity 2: (5 minutes)
Purpose: to differentiate mustn’t and don’t have to Commented [AV4]: You shouldn´t introduce a new teaching
point by means of the grammar rule.
Why don´t you give them some meaningful examples about their
school life?
Together, we read the grammar explanation. I will ask for examples and write them down on
the board. We do ex 4 collaborative (read the sentences and choose the correct words)
Activity 1: ( 5 minutes)
I will say that now we are going to listen and complete ex 2 (page 84). I will say that we
are going to use have to if there is a tick or don’t have to if there is a cross
X
We work together. Students might find difficulties when completing sentences with 3rd
person singular, so we work together in order to clarify doubts.
Activity 2: ( 10 minutes)
Purpose: to check understanding of grammar.
Page 85 ex 5
I will give students some minutes in order to complete the activity, I will say that they have
to complete sentences using mustn’t, don’t have to, doesn’t have to. Commented [AV6]: Is this enough?
I will monitor students work by walking around the classroom and helping them when
necessary.
I will give the students 1 picture each one. Students will have to complete the sentences
using mustn’t or must. Then, they say their sentences aloud.
