(Sequencing Key Events in a Story's Plot)
Materials:
- Four key events templates
- Colored pencils, crayons, or markers
- Scissors .
- Hole punch
- String or yarn
Directions:
1. Cover Key: On the head of the key, write "Key Event" at the top
and the title of the book at the bottom. Draw and color an
illustration in the center and write the author's name and your
name on the lines to the right on the key.
Title of Story:
Author:2. First Key: On the head of the key, draw and color an
illustration of the first key event from the story. Above the
picture write the phrase "Key Event #1". Write a sentence
describing the scene illustrated on the lines to the right on
the key.
Second Key: On the head of the key, draw and color an
illustration of the second key event from the story. Above
the picture write the phrase "Key Event #2". Write a
sentence describing the scene illustrated on the lines to the

Third Key: On the head of the key, draw and color an
illustration of the third key event from the story. Above the

5. Carefully cut out each key along the dotted lines. Then
punch a hole through the circle on each key and
create a key chain out of a length of string or yarn.
