Agenda 1: Opening Speech

Pn Rosliza thanked all English teachers for attending the second meeting for 2018. She stated the
purpose is to review the programmes as well as to look at the SPM Examination results for 2017.

Agenda 2: Presenting and Confirming the Minute of the Second Meeting

The secretary of ELD Pn Sharmizan Shaffee, read out the minutes of meeting 1/2017. En Irwan
approved the minute and seconded by Dr Subramaniam.

Agenda 3: Arising Matters

Agenda 4: Post Mortem for SPM 2017

1) 47 students passed the English paper with 50.16%. Only 2 students were able to score A with
one A and one A-.

2) Strengths: Able to answer the Reading Comprehension section and summary.

3) Weaknesses: The students were weak in writing and literature sections (poems

and novel).The students were also having a lot of problems with grammar.

4) Suggestions:

a)Drill the students on writing and learn how to develop ideas through 4 square writing.

b)Give more exercises on literature sections and error identification.

c)Give good sample essays.

d)Put extra focus on reading and understanding the questions.

Agenda 5: Head Count

4.1 All English teachers are to prepare the headcount for their class respectively the form 3,4
and 5.The students should also be notified and made aware by the teachers.

4.2 Pn Rosliza also mentioned that the teachers should do item analysis for better focus in class
and prepare the students for immediate intervention plan.

Agenda 6 : School Based Assessment (PBS), OPS English

6.1 The English teachers for form 1 and form 2 teachers are reminded to carry out their assessment
and key in the marks. Pn Rosliza mentioned that teachers need to modify the assessment to occupy
the High Order Thinking Skills as proposed by the Ministry.

6.2 The teachers are advised to complete the syllabus and exposed students to the vocabulary used.
The reflection sheet for OPS English also need to be completed.

Action: Form 1, form 2 and form 3 English Teachers

6.3 Form 4 teachers should begin their first PBS SPM assessment in April and the form 5 should have
their last assessment before June 2018.

Action: Form 4 and 5 English Teachers

Agenda 7: Performance Dialogue

7.1 Pn Rosliza informed the English teachers about the school’s aspiration and mission to improve
the subject.

7.2. The intervention plans that have been discussed are the 4 square( writing),Writing folder
(Vocabulary and Grammar) and Journal (form 1-5).Teachers also need to work together in preparing
word cards to be used in class. The cards were to be used in teaching the students on sentence
construction.

Agenda 8: Staff’s Development

8.1 Pn Rosliza mentioned that the English teachers are to practised Professional Learning
Community(PLC). Three or four teachers need to plan out activities for a class and use it in Teaching
and Learning in class. Ammendments are to be made to suit the students’ level of English. If possible,
teachers are to stay back on Wednesday to prepare the materials.
8.2 Teachers are also advised to teach English according to the 21st Century Learning where the
lessons focus on the students. As teachers, we should be able to familiarise the students with the
present style to have maximum participation from the students.

8.3 Teachers are reminded to adhere to MMI(Melindungi Masa Instruksional). Whenever a teacher is
going for a course, he/she would have to leave his/her worksheet/exercise in Bilik Ketua Bidang.

Agenda 9: Other matters

9.1 Pn Rosliza informed that this year, The English panel is going to send 6 students to participate in
the English Carnival.

9.3 For the 2018 Budget, The Panel plans to buy more A4 papers, permanent markers for
presentation in the classroom as well as some coloured papers.

9.4 Bilik Abad ke21 need to be equipped with enough materials. Teachers are to work together to
beautify and make full use of the room.

Pn Rosliza thanked all English teachers for the effort and commitment. She also hoped that the
teachers will give their fullest cooperation and dedication in improving the student’s proficiency and
to be more creative and resourceful in teaching.

The meeting was adjourned at 415pm.
