Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Knowing that every classroom is diverse and no two students learn the
same, the teacher will implement different ways of learning into her teaching. Using Popplet may allow for
students with organizational issues or those who have autism to better understand the lesson at hand by
creating this graphic organizer and being able to separate different points of information using this
application.
Lesson idea implementation: The students will be learning about many different historical and how their
lives contributed to Georgia History. The students will be tasked with creating an online graphic organizer
using “Popplet” on one of the historical figures we have learned of their choosing. They will write any facts
about their historical figure that they feel are important and should include. They will use their textbook or
online resources to help them create their online graphic organizer. We can extend this learning to a higher
learning level by having the students publish their Popplet online by making it public. I will conclude the
lesson by having the students present their graphic organizer to the class.
Each online graphic organizer should have a variety of notes about their historical figure and at least one
picture. This assignment should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Students will be assessed upon
completion based on a rubric according to their graphic organizer and presentation. I will provide feedback to
my students by giving them their rubric and writing notes on their work.
Reflective Practice: I think that by allowing the students to use this software will help engage them more in
the learning as they are able to create something and have a little fun with it. I think that we could further this
lesson by having the students use their graphic organizer as an outline for a short essay or presentation.
Students could use productivity tools such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint in order to write a short essay or
presentation.
