LOG TEACHING DATE: September 9, 2018 QUARTER: 1

CONTENT Identifying the Inquiry and Stating the Problem

The learner demonstrates understanding of:
1. The range of research topics in the area of inquiry
CONTENT STANDARD
2. The value of research in the area of interest
3. The specificity and feasibility of the problem posed
PERFORMANCE The learner is able to formulate clearly statement of research problem
STANDARD
LEARNING CS_RS11-IIIc-e-1 The learner designs a research project related to daily life
COMPETENCY
TOPIC AND Creating Qualitative Research Questions
REFERENCE

A. Reviewing Previous lesson or Presenting New Lesson

What are the guidelines in formulation of clear research title?

B. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills

The students will share their answers in the class.

C. Presenting Examples/ Instances of the lesson

KWL Chart
On the first column, list the things that you know about identifying the inquiry and
stating the problem in research. On the second column, list the things that you want
to know about identifying the inquiry and stating the problem in research. On the
third column, list the things that you have learned (based on your readings) about
identifying the inquiry and stating the problem in research.

D. Developing Mastery
Refer to powerpoint presentations
INSTRUCTIONAL
Research questions can be derived from a wide variety of contexts. They can be from
DELIVERY
a general research area that interests us, or they can come from any of several
sources, namely, personal interest and/or experience, theory, or the research
literature.
Your research question can be prompted by your own personal interest or
experience. It can also be prompted by a theory that you are very much interested in.
If you recall in the previous chapter, we posed the question as to whether your
research question will apply, test or develop theories or build on existing knowledge
about the phenomenon that you want to study. The following table lists a variety of
possible sources of research questions as suggested by Marx (1997) and cited by
Bryman 2008, p.70.

E. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living

Group the students into five , ask them to formulate a “how” or “why” question that
would be the rationale for a qualitative research that they want to conduct. Then
think of possible ways to answer the questions they formulated like conducting a
survey questionnaire, interview or experiment.

F. Generalizations and Abstractions About The Lesson

The lesson provided the students with opportunities to formulate their own research
title and questions, statement of the problem and scope and limitations of their
research. It enhanced collaboration among the students and in so doing, the students
were able to develop the values of camaraderie and selflessness. Finally, it ended by
asking the students to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts by sharing
their output to their group mates.
G. Evaluating Learning
Selecting A Research Question
Instruction: Fill in the empty boxes with the information required. Follow
the arrow to indicate the proper order or sequence of the data in the
boxes.

c. Mixed-methods research
d. All of the above
2. A theory:

a. Is an accumulated body of knowledge

b. Includes inconsequential ideas
