Simulation and Control of Solar Wind Hybrid Ren ewable

PowerSystem
Abstract:
This paperpresents, the s un and wind based generation are wellthoroug hlyconsidered to
be alternate source of green pow ergeneration which can mitigate the power de mand issues. This
paper introduces a standalone hy brid power generation systemconsisting of sol ar and permanent
magnet synchronousgenerator (P MSG) wind power sources and AC load. Asupervisory control
unit, designed to execute maxi mum powerpoint tracking (MPPT), is introdu ced to maximize
thesimultaneous energy harvesting from overall power generationunder different climatic
conditions. Two contingencie s areconsidered and categorized according to the power
generationfrom each energy source, and the load requirement. In PVsystem Pe rturb & Observe
(P&O) algorithm is used a s controllogic for the Maximum Power Point Tracking
(MPPT)controller and Hill Climb Search (HCS) algorithm is used asMPPT con trol logic for the
Wind power system in order tom aximizing the power generated. The Fuzzy logic controlscheme
of the inverter is intended to keep the load voltage andfrequency of the AC s upply at constant
level regardless ofprogress in nattural conditions and burden.
Existing method:
The existing method describes the solar and wind powergeneration cannot operate at
Maximum power point (MPP)w ithout proper control logic in the MPPT boost converter. Ifthe
MPP is not tracked by the controller the power losses willoccur in the syste m and in spite of
wind and solar poweravailability , the output voltage of the hybrid system will notboost up to the
required value .The output voltage of thePV and Wind power generation are quite low as
comparedwith the desired opera ting level. So, this output voltage isbrought to desired operating
value of 220V using Boostconverter with MPPT controller at each source.
Proposed method:
The proposed method proposes, scheme of wind–solar hybrid sy stemconsiderably
improves the performance of the WECS interms of enhanced generation capa bility. The solar
PVaugmentation of appropriate capacity with minimum batterystorage facility provides solution for power
of(PV/wind) hybrid systems incl uding energy storage batteryconnected to the A C load. Study of
modeling and simulationon th e entire PV/wind/battery hybrid system is c arried out under
Matlab/Simulink environment.

Drawbacks of existing met hod:
1. The solar and wind powergeneration cannot operate at Maximum power
point (MPP)without proper con trol logic in the MPPT boost converter.
2. The output voltage of thePV and Wind power generation are quite low as comparedwith
the desired operating lev el.
.
Advantages of proposed m ethod:
1.The scheme of wind–solar hyb rid system considerably improves the performance of
the WECS in terms of enhanced generation capability.
Applications:
Applications of renewable energy resources.
