It provides a full abstraction of the underlying technology used to provide the service with the following main features: • Voice subscriber provisioning and line testing for individual subscribers or a set of subscribers that allows fast deployment of the network • Open interfaces to OSS that eases massive deployment of the service.1 — System Overview • Voice subscriber provisioning • POTS/ISDN BA user ports management: • Declare/delete user port • Configure user port (including L1 activation and D-packet Service indicator for ISDN BA user ports). 5530 NA The 5530 NA is in charge of the PSTN line Testing functionality. and testing of the POTS terminal equipment. which includes electrical measurements in the voice band to test the loop. preventive and customer-on-call line testing and subscriber information alignment with OSS.x Edition 02 Released 3HH-03574-AAAA-TCZZA Product Information . This is recommended for two different reasons: • simplest network architecture with an easier operation • to keep compatibility with further features in order to limit the bandwidth/number of calls per shelf • The different traffic flows related to voice service are isolated into different VLANs which are defined over the EMAN and in the ISAM SHub: • Voice VLAN: RTP traffic and XLES signaling is carried over this VLAN • MEGACO VLAN: for MEGACO signaling traffic between CS and the media GW and SIGTRAN signaling between ASP and the signalling GW • External OAM VLAN: for provider operation and management • Both hub and subtending (cascading or remote (distributed)) configurations are possible. providing ISDN Basic Access (ISDN BA) interface connectivity Architecture View The following applies for the ISAM-V product architecture: • ISAM-V nodes are connected to an EMAN • An ISAM-V node integrates either: • the server card.e. one IVPS can control several ISAM-V cascading nodes (up to 4 levels) with a number of NB LT cards as well as several ISAM-V distributed nodes (i. the network deployment should be planned so that all user ports in one shelf are associated to/ controlled by only one IVPS.

The IVPS functions are: • The signaling interface with the call server or soft-switch (MEGACO signaling) • Internal proprietary protocol (XLES) for signaling supervision and control with POLT line termination boards • Digit Map processing (either under Megaco reception or by CDE data) • Specific OAM interface needed to support VoIP configuration and service • Persistent storage of the voice service database including back-up and restore • Regarding ISDN signaling: • IVPS performs message relay between the DSS1 XLES messages containing Q921 and the IUA over SCTP messages that carry the Q931 info towards the ASP. 3.5 XD Standard Splitter Subrack (ASPS-C)

The XD-LT subrack is splitterless. Therefore, the splitter appliques for the LT boards
need to be housed in a separate subrack. The XD-PSP subrack is a cost-improved
version of the XD-SP subrack. The main characteristics of this new subrack type are:
• The subrack has no backplane will be equipped (no MTA support, no LT
redundancy support).
• The subrack can house up to 16 xDSL line boards. Each board is able to handle
48 lines.
• The subrack can be mounted in the existing ETS rack frame of an XD Modular
system (above the XD-LT subrack) or in a standard 19” rack. By re-orienting the
mounting brackets, the subrack can be mounted in frames.

RFC Request for Comments
RFC is the name of the result and the process for creating a standard on the
Internet. New standards are proposed and published online, as a Request For
Comments. The IETF is the consensus-building body that facilitates
discussion, and eventually a new standard is established.
RFC is the prefix for all published IETF documents for Internet environment
standards; for example, the official standard for e-mail is RFC 822. RFC
documents typically define IP, TCP, and related application layer protocols.
RIP Routing Information Protocol
An interior gateway protocol defined by the IETF (RIPv1 - RFC 1058 and
RIPv2 - RFC 2453) that specifies how routers exchange routing table
information. RIP is a routing protocol based on the distance vector
algorithm. With RIP, routers periodically exchange entire tables.
RJ-45 The RJ-45 is a single-line jack for digital transmission over ordinary phone
wire, either untwisted or twisted. It is the interface for Ethernet standards
10Base-T and 100Base-T.
RMI Remote Management Interface
RNM Residential Network Manager
RSTP Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol
RSTP is specified in IEEE 802.1w. It replaces the spanning tree protocol
specified by IEEE 802.1d. RSTP is targeted at switched networks with
point-to-point interconnections, and allows for much quicker
reconfiguration time (approximately 1 s) by allowing a rapid change in port
roles.
RTL Routine Task List
RTU Remote Test Unit
RU Rack Unit
A rack unit is a unit of vertical space in a standard 19-inch equipment rack.
One RU is 1.75 in. (4.45 cm).
Rx receive
To receive or carry signals or data to a device; any part of the equipment that
converts or decodes signals or data entering the equipment into the desired
form for use by the equipment.

STP Spanning Tree Protocol
A technique based on an IEEE 802.1d standard that detects and eliminates
forwarding loops in a bridged network. When multiple paths exist, STP
selects the most efficient path for the bridge to use. If that path fails, STP
automatically reconfigures the network to activate another path. This
protocol is used mostly by local bridges.
