PUTRAJAYA: Former spy agency chief Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid is expected to

face several charges of alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to US$12mil


(RM49mil) on Thursday (Oct 25).

Anti-graft authorities confirmed that the former head of the Malaysian External
Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) will be facing charges of criminal breach of trust and
will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in Jalan Duta.

Hasanah was among nine people who had been arrested in connection with the case of
misappropriating funds meant for GE14.

She was remanded for six days in August to allow the MACC to investigate into the
alleged offence.

Apart from Hasanah and officers from the Prime Minister's Department, a businessman
was also held in Kelantan in connection with the case, resulting in the recovery of
US$4.07mil (RM16.9mil) from a condominium in Cyberjaya.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki has said that
US$12mil of government funds were allegedly misappropriated.
