The steps to carry out an export process

1) Registration as an exporter
Process the Unique Tax Registry (RUT) in any office of the DIAN or SuperCade.

2) Market study and location of potential demand


Select the market in which you want to venture. Identify the characteristics of the country
where it will be exported, such as consumer preferences and regulations.

3) Location of the tariff position


Locate the tariff subheading of your product through the customs tariff or in the Information
Center of your city.

4) Procedures for approval


Consult DIAN if your product requires prior authorization for export authorization. After
processing them, you must submit the Shipment Authorization Application to the DIAN
computer system.

5) Customs procedures for dispatch before the DIAN:


When you have the merchandise list check negotiation terms.
You can use a cargo or marine agent for the contracting of international transport.
In the DIAN of the Port, Airport or Border Crossing, you can request the Application for
Authorization of Boarding.
If the export is worth more than USD10,000, this procedure must be done through a
Customs Agency.
Payment methods
There are different means of international payment: bank transfers, letters of credit,
guaranteed letters, Standby guarantees.

6) Exchange procedures or foreign exchange refund


It must reintegrate the currencies through the intermediaries of the exchange market, such
as: commercial banks and other financial entities.
