Structure and Function

3 Structure and Function

3.1 Functions
The Panel PCs with Glass Front AHD 1310 G are used for visualiz-
ing the ship’s data and devices. They can be used to control visual-
ized devices and acknowledge alarms.
The Panel PCs AHD 1310 G are connected to a data processing
station AHD-DPU or a Panel PC AHD 12xx over Ethernet. On de-
livery, the data and devices which can be visualized and controlled
on the Panel PC AHD 1310 G are set up according to the custom-
er’s wishes. This also includes setting up how these data and de-
vices are visualized on the Panel PC AHD 1310 G, as well as the
structure and function of the pages shown on the displays. Every
control-relevant area of the ship can be displayed on a separate
display page. This makes every visualization unique.
The basic functions of the Panel PCs AHD 1310 G are available
via keys on the device front. Keys for acknowledging incoming
alarms eliminate the need for a separate alarm panel. Incoming
alarms are indicated acoustically and optically.
In addition to the capacitive touch screen, the panel PCs can also
be operated with e.g. the Control Unit for Color Displays AHD-DC,
the Control Unit for Color Displays and Monitors with Rotary Push
Drive AHD-DRM R, the Control Unit for Color Displays with Rotary
Push Drive AHD-DC R, the Control Unit for Color Displays with Ro-
tary Push Drive AHD-DC RS and the Control Unit for Color Dis-
plays and Monitors with Trackball AHD-DRM T.
High luminosities always ensure good readability even during
strong sunlight. When cruising at night, automatic dimming with ad-
justable minimum brightness ensures that the Panel PCs AHD
1310 G work glare-free. Overheating protection reduces the screen
brightness at high temperatures to prevent equipment damage.
The overheating protection is indicated by corresponding warnings.
The Panel PCs AHD 1310 G were designed specifically for mari-
time use, and they are maintenance free. The elimination of me-
chanical components, such as hard disks and cooling fans makes
them impact resistant and avoids distracting background noises.

that ensures the required supply voltages. Therefore, the supply
voltage fed by the device’s power distribution can range from 18 V
DC to 32 V DC.
The central unit of the Panel PCs AHD 1310 G is a 2.0 GHz Quad
Core microprocessor that reads out and processes the vessel’s
devices or sends commands to them. It transmits the vessel’s data
to be visualized along with their graphic presentation to the display
and receives commands from the touch screen.
A 4 GB flash disk allows storing the configuration required for the
visualization and communication with the devices.
For increased operational safety, all communication ports are
galvanically isolated.

Operation

The brightness of the display AHD 1310 G can be set in four differ-
ent modes:

1. In Mode 1 the brightness is set individually and automati-

cally for each display by a built-in LDR sensor.
2. In Mode 2 the brightness is set automatically by the LDR
sensors built into the operation panels (AHD-DRM T/R,
AHD-DC), that is, the according signal is sent via CAN to
the display.
3. In Mode 3 the brightness of all displays connected to
CAN5 or the signals from their built-in LDR sensors, re-
spectively, are captured and the highest value is set on
all displays, resulting in a similar brightness on all dis-
plays.
4. In Mode 4 the brightness is set manually with the keys
(+/-) of the device.
The currently set mode can be recognized from how often the (+)
key blinks in green, before blinking in white twice again (1x green /
2 x white = Mode 1; 2 x green / 2x white = Mode 2 and so on).
By pressing the (+) key the mode can be changed in steps:
• From 1 to 2, from 2 to 3, from 3 to 4, from 4 to 1.

Manually setting the brightness of the displays is only possible af-

ter setting Mode 4 in configuration mode and returning to normal
operation. In this mode the display’s brightness is set to 50% by
default (user offset) and can be changed by pressing either the (-)
or the (+) key.

Errors

9.3 Error Codes

The MCU’s error messages are issued as blink codes on the
ON/OFF/SOURCE key of the AHD 1310 G device keypads.
The frequency of the red coded blinks determines the error code. If
several errors are active simultaneously, they are separated by a
single blink of the white LED and indicated in sequence.
Two blinks of the white LED signify that all errors have been
shown; the cycle then begins anew.
A quick press of the ON/OFF/SOURCE key acknowledges the error,
and the blinking stops.
Holding down the DEFAULT key shows the error codes once
more, if errors are still present.

Number of Explanation
