The serpent, however, is not awaiting a similar virginreincarnation. But, just as the seed of
the woman refers to a physical offspring, so the seed of the serpent refers to a physical off
spring. The hatred that was prophesied to exist between the seed of the woman and the
seed of the serpent must be evident in the Bible in order to understand who the seed of the
serpent is. However, this hatred is not evident between Jesus and an animal, such as a
snake, but between Jesus and man. Jesus was crucified by men, which were the manifesta
tion of the seed of the serpent, just as Abel was murdered by Cain, another manifestation
of the seed of the serpent.
Jesus said to these people “Ye are of your father the devil”
Knowing what Jesus was referring to, they replied “We be not born of fornication.”
The fornication these people were referring to was the fornication between Eve and the
Serpent, who was possessed of the Devil. Cain was the offspring of that union (i.e. the seed
of the serpent), and is not counted among the descendant of Adam.
William Branham's teaching on the Serpent's seed
William Branham taught that the fall of mankind started with sexual intercourse between
Eve and the 'Serpent' [1], which was an upright being prior to the curse. From this relation
ship, Cain was conceived and produced as a fertile man/serpent hybrid. Cain's children
then came through Adam's daughters, and the evidence of any difference between Adam
and Cain's lineages would have been diluted with each successive generation.
In Genesis 4:1, Eve says of Cain "I have gotten a man from the LORD." Rev. Branham was
of the view that since all life comes from God, and that Eve's statement in itself does not
discount the serpent seed doctrine.
You could take the orneriest woman in the town, the worst man; if they had a baby,
it would have to come from the Lord, because God has laws set together. And these
laws like the sun to raise; you put a cocklebur in a good field, it'll grow. And it has
to grow, because it's God's law. When seed is planted, it must grow. And nothing
can grow life but God, because it operates under His laws. Therefore when the evil
seed was planted in the womb ofof Eve, it had to bring forth, because it's God's
law of production. And it could do nothing else but bring it, and it had to come
from God.

Genesis 4:1 says that: "Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and
said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel." William
Branham taught that there was one act of Adam, and two children, whereas when Seth was
born, there was one act, and one child. Genesis 4:25 "And Adam knew his wife again; and
she bares a son, and called his name Seth..."
William Branham was also well aware of the potential racist connections of the doctrine,
but tried not to carry any of these racist interpretations into his teachings:
God said to the woman, "What is this that you have done?" The woman replied, "The
serpent seduced me and I ate [it]." (Genesis 3:13)

GENESIS 2 8: And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put
the man whom he had formed.
9: And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is
pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of
the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
15: And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden
to dress it and to keep it.
16: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the
garden thou mayest freely eat:
17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of
it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
21: And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he
slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22: And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a
woman, and brought her unto the man.
23: And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave
unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not
ashamed.
GENESIS 3 1: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the
LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said,
Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the
trees of the garden:
3: But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God
hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall
be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6: And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it
[was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she
took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with
her; and he did eat.
7: And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they [were]
naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8: And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the
cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence
of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9: And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where [art]
thou?
10: And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because
I [was] naked; and I hid myself.
11: And he said, Who told thee that thou [wast] naked? Hast thou eaten of
the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12: And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest [to be] with me, she
gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13: And the LORD God said unto the woman, What [is] this [that] thou
hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14: And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this,
thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon
thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy
seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16: Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire [shall
be] to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17: And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of
thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying,
Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed [is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt
thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life;
18: Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat
the herb of the field;
19: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the
ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt
thou return.
20: And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of
all living.
21: Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of
skins, and clothed them.
22: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to
know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of
the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to
till the ground from whence he was taken.
24: So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of
Eden Cherubim’s, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep
the way of the tree of life.
GENESIS 4 1: And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and
said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2: And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep,
but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3: And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of
the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4: And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat
thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very
wroth, and his countenance fell.
6: And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? And why is thy
countenance fallen?
7: If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not
well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt
rule over him.
8: And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they
were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9: And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said
I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
10: And he said What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood
crieth unto me from the ground.
11: And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth
to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
12: When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her
strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13: And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can
bear.
14: Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and
from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the
earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay
me.
15: And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain,
vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark
upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16: And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the
land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17: And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he
builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son,
Enoch.
25: And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his
name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of
Abel, whom Cain slew.
26: And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name
Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Genesis 5 1:This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2: Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their
name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3: And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own
likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
Genesis 6 1: And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the
earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2: That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and
they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis 17 9: And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore,
thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10: This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy
seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11: And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a
token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12: And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every
man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with
money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13: He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money,
must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an
everlasting covenant.
14: And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not
circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my
covenant.
Exodus 4 25: Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son,
and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26: So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of
the circumcision.

any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
9: I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the
trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.
18: To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of

Matthew 1 18: Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother

19: Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make

20: But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord

In Genesis 4:1, Eve said, "I have gotten a man from the Lord." She does not credit
Adam with the fatherhood of Cain. But in Genesis 4:25, she says "...For God, said
she, hath appointed me ANOTHER seed, INSTEAD OF ABEL, whom Cain slew."
She does not say God had GIVEN her another seedthat would have been Christ,
for He is GIVEN. This son, Seth, was APPOINTED instead of Abel. She recognizes
her son that came by Adam; she does not now recognize Cain for he came by the
serpent. When she says ANOTHER SEED instead of Abel, she is saying that Cain
was different from Abel, for if they were of the same father she would have had to
say, "I have been given some MORE SEED."

And now remember, the serpent was not a snake to begin with, a reptile. He was
the next thing to a human being. Science has tried for thousands of years to find
that missing link between man and beast. The closest they can come is to a chim
panzee. But they cannot get from the chimpanzee to the human being. Why? It wa s
a serpent. Now, if you notice in Genesis 3:1, "The beastthe serpent was the most
subtil of all the beast of the field." A beast, not a reptile. He was more like a man.
He looked like a man. He was that missing link in between there, because that's the
only way. The seed of a human will not coincide with the seed of a animal. But this
fellow was the only one the devil could use because it was just between man and
beast...

She brought forth her first son which was Cain (Is that right?), the son of Satan, son
of Satan. If they didn't, where'd thatwhere'd that evil come from? Out of Adam
which was the son of God? Come from the devil, his father. And he murdered; first
murderer was the devil, the devil's son.

Now, here comes Cain. Let's watch the natures. Here comes Cain. What is he? He's a
shrewd businessman. He tills the fields: smart, intelligent, religious, very religious.
Watch hiswatch his attributes now. Just move with me for just a few minutes longer.
Here he comes out. He knows he's mortal. He wants to go to church. He builds him a
church, makes him an offering, brings an altar along builded an altar, puts his
flowers on it, put the fieldthe fruits of the field, offered it to God, and said, "There
You are, Lord. I know we ate apples. That's what caused it." (Some of his offsets have
the same kind of an idea. Shows where it came from.) Brought his apples in out of the
field, laid them on there, said, "This will make an atonement."
God said, "It wasn't apples."
But by spiritual revelation Abel knew it was blood. So he brought a lamb, hacked its
throat, and it died; and God said, "That's right. That's what done it. It was blood."

However, if it is possible for animal hybrids to be fertile, and for twins to be born from dif
ferent fathers, this provides some credibility to William Branham's teachings.
Fertile Hybrids
The word hybrid comes from Ancient Greek `υβριδης, literally meaning "son of outrageous
conduct", and used to mean "sheepgoat hybrid".
Interspecific hybrids are bred by mating two species, normally from within the same genus.
The offspring display traits and characteristics of both parents. Fertile hybrids may either
create a new species (if there are other fertile hybrids at the same time), or breed back into
one of the parental lineages.
While it is unusual to have interspecific hybrids that are fertile, it is not impossible. For
example, a Dog can produce a fertile hybrid with a wolf (circumpolar), a dingo (Australia),
Jackal (Africa), and a Coyote (North America). The common denominator between each of
these animals is that they all have 78 chromosomes. If the number of chromozomes was
different between the father and the mother, the animal would probably be sterile as an
odd number of chromosomes cannot be paired at meiosis, meaning that viable sperm and
eggs cannot be formed. For example, donkeys have 62 chromosomes, while horses have 64
chromosomes. Mules, the sterile offspring of a male donkey and a female horse, have 63
chromosomes.
Other fertile animal hybrids include the Beefalo/Cattalo (a cross between the European
domestic cow, Bos taurus, and the American Bison, Bison bison), and the Wholphin (a
cross between a Bottlenose Dolphin female, Tursiops truncatus, and a False Killer Whale
male, Pseudorca crassidens). Kekaimalu, a Wholphin at Sea Life Part in Hawaii, gave birth
to another female Wholphin on December 23, 2004, which was sired by a male Bottlenose
Dolphin.
Twins with different fathers
Human twins are two individuals who have shared the uterus during a single pregnancy
and are usually, but not necessarily, born in close succession. Fraternal twins (commonly
known as "nonidentical twins") usually occur when two fertilized eggs are implanted in
the uterine wall at the same time. The two eggs form two zygotes, and these twins are
therefore also known as dizygotic as well as "biovular" twins. When two eggs are inde
pendently fertilized by two different sperm cells, fraternal twins result. Fraternal twinning
is more common based on a person's genetics and age.
A press release from the DNA Diagnostic Centre (Ohio) on December 31, 2005 entitled
"DNA Pa ter nity Test Rev ea ls Tw ins W ith Differ ent Fa ther s" [1] reported "several
cases of twins that DNA paternity testing proved to have different fathers. Such occur
rences, although rare, are being more frequently revealed via DNA testing. ...If a woman
has contact with different partners within her fertile time period and has multiple ovula
tions, it is possible for her to have fraternal twins or even triplets with different fathers.
This phenomenon has been dubbed in medical literature as heteropaternal superfecunda
tion."
If an ovum is released after the female was already impregnated when previously ovulating,
there is a chance of a second pregnancy albeit at a different stage of development. This is
known as superfetation. Heteropaternal superfecundation is very rare in humans, though
more common in other animals. This is primarily due to the predominance of 1:1 hetero
sexual partner pairings among humans. A woman who has sexual relations with two or
more men at short intervals within the same ovulatory period can be impregnated by both
men.
There have been noted examples in the past. The classic case, which is discussed in
Williams Obstetrics (1980), was recorded in 1810 by John Archer, the first doctor to
receive a medical degree in the United States.

The story of the fall can be seen in the myths of ancient religions. Of particular interest is
the presence of the serpent, tree of life, and twins in most of these myths that indicates a
common source.
Twins
Gemini, the Twins of the Zodiac, are really only halfbrothers. The Gemini twins, Castor
and Pollux, share the same mother (Leda) but have different fathers. Castor's father was a
king of Sparta, Tyndareus who would be chased from his throne but later rescued by
Heracles (who nevertheless wound up killing him). The father of Pollux was none other
than Zeus, or Jupiter. Pollux was the son of a god, and Castor was the son of a man.

Atum, the Egyptian sun god (setting sun), was said to originally be a serpent, a form to
which he was destined to return to when the world ends, only changing into a human dur
ing its existence. Atum's children came from his shadow, Iusaaset known as the mother of
the gods. Iusaaset was regarded as owning the tree of life.
Ra was another Egyptian sun god (midday sun). As the sun, Ra was thought to see every
thing. He was associated with the falcon, a cobra wrapped around the sun, and the obelisk
(sun rays).
Osiris was the grandson of Atum. The serpent Apep, the god of evil, was jealous and killed
Osiris, so Isis had a son (Horus) from Osiris after resurrecting him. Horus/Osiris is the
Egyptian lifedeathrebirth deity with Isis being the mother of the sun god.

Olympias, the mother of Alexander the Great and a princess of the primitive land of Epirus,
had the reputation of a snakehandler, and it was in serpent form that Zeus was said to
have fathered Alexander upon her.
Heracles (the Greek form of Hercules) was a demigod (the fruit of an affair between a
woman named Alcmene and the god Zeus, who disguised himself as her husband Amphi
tryon) and the twin to his halfbrother Iphicles (Amphitryon returned home from war
shortly after Zeus's affair). Iphicles was born one day after Heracles. The infant Heracles
later killed two serpents that "threatened" him in his cradle.

Asclepius was the demigod of medicine and healing in ancient Greek mythology. The
woman Coronis (or Arsinoe) became pregnant with Asclepius by Apollo, but fell in love
with Ischys, son of Elatus. Asclepius was finally killed by Zeus for his ability to raise the
dead. The sign of Asclepius is a single snake wrapped around a pole.

Quetzalcoatl ("feathered serpent" or "plumed serpent") is the Nahuatl name for the Feath
eredSerpent deity of ancient Mesoamerican culture. The cult of the serpent in Meso
america is very old; there are representations of snakes with birdlike characteristics as old
as the Olmec preclassic (1150500 BC).
Quetzalcoatl was often considered the god of the morning star, and his twin brother Xolotl
was the evening star (Venus). His birth, along with his twin Xolotl (god of fire and of bad
luck), was unusual; it was a virgin birth, to the goddess Coatlicue. The word "Coatlicue" is
Nahuatl for "the one with the skirt of serpents". She is referred to by the epithets "Mother
Goddess of the Earth who gives birth to all celestial things", "Goddess of Fire and Fertility",
"Goddess of Life, Death and Rebirth" and "Mother of the Southern Stars". She is repre
sented as a woman wearing a skirt of writhing snakes and a necklace made of human
hearts, hands and skulls.

Ningishzida
Ningishzida is an underworld Mesopotamian deity. He is the patron of medicine, and may
also be considered a God of nature, as his name in Sumerian means "lord of the good tree".
Sometimes he was depicted as a serpent with a human head.
In the Louvre, there is a famous green steatite vase carved for king Gudea of Lagash (dated
2025 BCE), dedicated by its inscription to Ningishzida which bears a relief of serpents
twined round a staff (an act of reproduction). Ningishzida is the earliest known symbol of
snakes twining around an axial rod. It predates the Caduceus of Hermes, the Rod of Ascle
pius and the staff of Moses by more than a thousand years.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh (of Sumerian origin), Gilgamesh dove to the bottom of the waters
to retrieve the plant of life. But while he rested from his labor, the Serpent came and ate
the plant. The snake became immortal, and Gilgamesh was destined to die.

The Minoan Great Goddess brandished a serpent in either hand, perhaps evoking her role
as source of wisdom. (The Minoan culture is from Crete it has been speculated that the
Philistines were Cretians who settled in Canaan after an unsuccessful attack on Egypt).

S UPERFECUNDATION
Superfecundation is the fertilization of two or more ova from the same
menstrual cycle by sperm from separate acts of sexual intercourse. The
term is also sometimes used to refer to the instances of two different
males fathering fraternal twins, though this is more accurately known as
heteropaternal superfecundation. This therefore leads to the possibility of
twins also being halfsiblings. Homopaternal superfecundation is the term
fraternal twins, i.e. from the same father.
C ONCEP TION
Superfecundation most commonly happens within hours or days of the first instance of
fertilization with ova released during the same cycle. Ovulation is usually suspended dur
ing pregnancy to prevent further ova becoming fertilized and to help increase the chances
of a full term pregnancy. However, if an ovum is released after the female was already im
pregnated when previously ovulating, there is a chance of a second pregnancy albeit at a
different stage of development. This is known as superfetation.
E TY M OLOGY
The term superfecundation is derived from fecund, meaning the ability to produce off
spring.

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR FRATERNAL TWINS TO HAVE DIFFERENT FATHERS?
24Jun1986
Dear Cecil:
My husband and I have an ongoing ar gument. I
say it is possible, though highly unlikely, for
fr aternal twins to have differ ent fathers. My
husband and his fr iends say this is nonsense.
We ar e relying on you as the final authority in
r esolution of a $100 bet. Nancy Ann N., Chi
cago
Cecil replies:
We will deal with this vital issue in a moment, Nancy, but first a word. Cecil has been settling bets
for as long as he can remember. Yet despite his oftstated willingness to accept kickbacks and graft,
all he has gotten for his trouble is an inflatable Dino the Dinosaur, a bootleg Bob Dylan tape, and a
pair of long johns designed for a guy who's built like Santa Claus and hung like a horse. (Don't ask.)
A mighty sorry showing for 13 years of selfless service. Well, I've had enough. Since you stand to
come into some serious money pretty soon (see below), I expect you to show the proper gratitude.
They say Paris is beautiful this time of year. 'Nuff said.
All right, then. Not only is it possible for fraternal twins to have different fathers, it has actually
happened. There's even a medical term for it: superfecundation. The classic case, which is discussed
in Williams Obstetrics (1980), was recorded in 1810 by John Archer, the first doctor to receive a
medical degree in the United States. According to Archer, a white woman who had sex with a black
man and a white man within a short time subsequently gave birth to twinsone white, one mulatto.
Other cases have been reported since.
Superfecundation is possible because fraternal twins result from two separate eggs fertilized inde
pendently. Some think it happens fairly often, but until recently it was difficult to prove, due to the
crudeness of the traditional testing method, which involved comparing blood types. In 1978, how
ever, Dr. Paul Terasaki of the UCLA School of Medicine reported in the New England Journal of
Medicine that he and his colleagues had conclusively established a case of superfecundation using a
sophisticated procedure called tissue or HLA (human leukocyte antigen) testing. This technique can
also be applied to more conventional cases. Prospective paternitysuit litigants, take note.
