Put the events in the order they happen in the story. The first is 1.

1 After the funeral Linda goes home. She tells John that in a few more weeks they’ll both
be free.

2 Colin crashes into a tree. An ambulance arrives, but it’s too late – he’s dead. The police tell
Linda her husband is dead.

3 Colin doesn’t turn up for his meeting in Manchester and Julie starts to worry about Colin.
In the morning she reports him missing.

 Colin meets John and Linda Bentley in a pub. John and Colin look almost identical. 1

4 Colin meets Linda and John. They give him £5,000 and they swap cars and driving licences. □
5 Colin spends the night with Linda. In the morning Linda explains her plan to him. He says he
needs time to think.

6 John lets himself into the shop and steals lots of jewellery. Then, he makes it look like
somebody broke in.

7 Julie decides to put an ad in the national newspapers about her husband’s disappearance. □
8 Linda arrives home after having identified the body of her husband. Then she gets rid of
Colin’s BMW.

9 Linda asks Colin if he wants to earn £10,000 for one evening’s work. Colin is surprised. □
10 Linda tells John that Colin has agreed to give him an alibi, but John is furious with her. □
11 Mark and Julie follow Linda. Later, they are shot at and Linda and John escape. □
12 Mark Ashwood visits Julie Fenton and tells her that Colin, her husband, is dead. She doesn’t
believe him.
