Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The teacher will begin the lesson by having the students come up with their own example of literal and non-
literal phrases. They will read their phrase with the class and as a class the students will decide what the
literal meaning is and what the non-literal meaning of that phrase is. After this is done, the teacher will
introduce the Kahoot activity.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The teacher will begin the activity by reviewing how to use Kahoot and getting the students set up on their
tablet/computer. The activity will last 30 minutes. This will provide ample time for questions and discussions

the students may have. During the activity, the teacher will read the question and the students will select the
right answer. Based on the answers, the teacher will either stop to discuss why it is the right answer and/or
address any questions.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Students will be able to see the correct answer to the Kahoot question after a selected amount of time. This
will allow them to check their answers and ask questions.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity, students will write a ticket out the door on what questions they may still have. The
teacher will use these questions to help tailor instruction.
How will the data be used?
The data used from the SRT activity will be used by the teacher to tailor instruction and address what the
students had the most problems with during the Kahoot. The top three students who earned the most points
in the Kahoot will receive five extra points on their next summative assessment.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

My goal for this activity is to have the students get a fun and engaging review session. What I hope to learn
from this activity is what the students are still struggling with. I hope the Kahoot will help clear up any
questions the students have.
Reflective Practice:
The activity I created could impact student learning by clarifying information that students may have been
struggling with. Using an interactive activity such as Kahoot can help improve student engagement which
inturn helps student learning.
