Subscription Requirements for External Users (Page 2)


End customers & third-party users do not require Subscription Licenses to access
Microsoft Dynamics 365 because external access is included with internal user
Subscription License.

Licensing Requirements for Internal Users (Page 3)


Customers must purchase Subscription Licenses for anyone who directly or
indirectly access Microsoft Dynamics 365 services.
There are 2 main types of Subscription Licenses, both are non-perpetual.
1. User Subscription Licenses (Application, Plan, Team Member, Activity)
2. Device Subscription Licenses
 Application Device: Any number of users can use the device with
Shared login without the need to separate User Subscription
Licenses
 Operations Device: Any number of users can use the device with
Individual logins without the need to separate User Subscription
Licenses. (Limited license with a subset of Unified Operations
capabilities).

Multiplexing (Page 4)
Any user of device that accesses the Microsoft Dynamics 365 service directly or
indirectly must be licensed. The following pooling devices must also have SL.
o Users/Devices that access data indirectly through a PowerApp
o Users/Devices that access files provided by an automated process
o Tiers of hardware/software between Microsoft Dynamics 365 service
user/device does not affect the number of SL required.

Dual Use Rights (Page 5)


o Option to deploy the server software in Microsoft’s cloud, in private on-
premises or partner hosted cloud. Customers can deploy two types at the
same time, for example to help migrating from on-premise to the cloud.
o Users licensed with the required Microsoft Dynamics 365 Subscription
Licenses do not need to acquire Client Access License to access server.
o Server License is included with the Subscription Licenses
o Down grade rights are limited to Dynamics AX2012 R3
o Dual rights included with Subscription Licenses are non-perpetual and will
expire when the cloud subscription expires.
Subscription Licenses that can access the on-premises Microsoft Dynamics 365
for Operations Server via dual rights are Users/Devices licensed with.
o Microsoft Dynamics 365 Plan
o Unified Operations Plan
o Operations Device
o Team Member

1.1 Named User Subscription - Full Users are Pro/Power users that require full
user capabilities
 Dynamics 365 Plan
 Dynamics 365 Application – User is licensed for only one application and
use rights to PowerApps.

1.2 Named User Subscription – Other Users represent users that use data and
reports from the system, complete light tasks (time & expense entry) and
update HR activities.

 Team Members – For users who are not tied to a particular function and
need basic Dynamics 365 functionality. (At least 1 Full user must be
assigned to the tenant.)
1. Record any type of time
2. Record any type of expense
3. Manage personal information
4. Manage direct employee activities in Human Resource
5. Create Requisitions
6. Create/Edit items related to the following capabilities: quality control,
service orders, and departmental budgets
7. Approval of time, expense and invoices

 Activity – For users who are heavy user of the application, but do not
need the use rights of a full user. (Activity use rights include all Team
Member use rights and more.)
1. Approve all Activity related transactions
2. Create/Edit items related to warehousing, receiving, shipping, orders,
vendor maintenance and all budgets.
3. Operate Point-of-Sale device, store manager device, shop floor device or
warehouse device.

PowerApps (Page 9)
PowerApps and Microsoft Flow are included in all Dynamics 365 applications and
Team Members Subscription so that users can create, modify and use mobile
apps.
Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (Page 11)
 Includes full read, edit and approval access across the Finance and
Operations application also PowerApps.
 Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations application cannot be licensed
as a stand alone application and is licensed exclusively with the Dynamics
365 Unified Operation Plan or Dynamics 365 Plan Subscription Licenses.

Dynamics 365 Plans (Page 13) – Enterprise Edition Unified Operations Plan
includes full read, edit and approval access across entire ERP solution with
PowerApps.

Minimum quantity of Subscription Licenses required:


 20 Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Unified Operations Plan or Dynamics 365
Plan User Subscription Licenses
 Dynamics 365 Plan, Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Plan and Dynamics
365 for Retail application Subscription Licenses can be combined to meet
20-user minimum
 Device Subscription Licenses 2.5 Device = 1 Dynamics 365 for Unified
Operations Plan User Subscription Licenses can be combined to meet 20-
user minimum
 Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider does not allow mixing SKU types to
meet minimum user requirement

Enterprise Edition Dynamics 365 Plan (Page 15) includes access to Customer
Engagement Plan functionality and Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Plan.
Device Subscription License (Page 16)
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations Device Subscription Licenses
Multiple users can access through a device to operate many devices.
 Point of Sale Device located in commerce location/Store to complete sales
or good or service transactions.
 Store Manager Device used for 1 Commerce/Store only
1. Managing and replenishing inventory
2. Balancing cash registers and processing daily receipts
3. Configuring and maintaining menu options displayed by the ISV
devices
4. Purchasing supplies and services required to run the commerce
location operations
5. Managing commerce location staff
6. Processing reports required to analyze and mange commerce
location results
7. Managing master data related to commerce location operations
 Shop Floor Device – one device to perform Manufacturing shop-floor
functions only. (Starting and finishing production jobs including project
activities carried out on shop floor)
1. Reporting Progress
2. Materials consumption and completion
3. Viewing documents and instructions related to production jobs
4. Viewing worker holiday balance
 Warehouse Device – one device to perform Warehousing functions only
1. Receiving, Put away
2. Internal stock transfers
3. Picking, Packing
4. Capturing product attributes
5. Shipping goods
6. Inventory count checks
7. Posting output and materials consumption against production
orders

Offers 1 production instance per tenant. (20 User Subscription Licenses per
tenant)

 Following Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services methodology
Default Non-Production Instance Capacity
Dynamics 365 for Unified Operations Plan will come with 1 sandbox Tier 1 and 1
sandbox Tier 2 environment per customer. Additional Sandbox can be purchased.
 Sandbox 1 Developer Instance is provided for life of tenant. Non-
production single box instance customers can use to customize Dynamics
365 for Unified Operations Plan and test their changes 0 default storage
capacity.
 Sandbox 2 Standard Acceptance Testing Instance is provided for life of
tenant. Non-production single box instance customers can use for User
Acceptance Testing, integration testing and training 10 GB default storage
capacity.
Default Database Storage
The tenant for Dynamics 365 for Unified Operations Plan includes 10 GB
database storage. Addition storage will be added on 5 GB for every 20 New
Users.
 Customer engagement plan application storage and Dynamics 365 for
Unified Operations Plan storage are not shared.

Default File Storage Capacity


The tenant for Dynamics 365 for Unified Operations Plan includes 10 GB
database storage. Addition storage will be added on 5 GB for every 20 New
Users.
