The Midst of the Week

A Detailed Study
of the
Literal Chronology
of the
Seventieth Week
Theodore James Turner
10/16-20/2018
INTRODUCTION
This is a short study of the final week of the seventy week prophecy of Daniel 9. That is, we will lay
out the literal week from 27 AD to 34 AD. In so doing, we will find that the structure of the prophetic
mirror created by both 2520’s is represented in reverse order, when we lay this upon a line. That is, we
will see that the counterfeit covenant week of the two 1260’s, one for paganism and another for
papalism, mirrors that of Christ’s covenant week.

MILLER’S UNDERSTANDING
Miller believed that Jesus was crucified at the very end of the seventy weeks - 490 years to the day,
from the going forth of the commandment on the 12D 1M in 457 BC.

“The Bible Chronology says that Ezra started to go up to Jerusalem in the 12th
day of the first month, (see Ezra 8:31,) 457 years before the birth of Christ; he being 33
when he died, added to 457, will make 490 years. Three of the evangelists tell us he was
betrayed two days before the feast of the passover, and of course was the same day
crucified. The passover was always kept on the 14th day of the first month forever,
and Christ being crucified two days before, would make it on the 12th day, 490
years from the time Ezra left the river Ahava to go unto Jerusalem.” William Miller’s
Works, Vol 2, 53.

We can now see that there are many problems with this position. Miller appears to be using
Matthew 26:2 and Mark 14:1 to suggest that the crucifixion is two days prior to Passover (we cannot
find the third reference).

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is
betrayed to be crucified. (Matthew 26:2)

After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief
priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
(Mark 14:1)

This seems unreasonable, based upon many other Scriptures that show that Jesus was crucified on
the day of Passover and not two days before. For one, Jesus ate the Passover with His disciples on the
Thursday evening prior to His crucifixion. For another, Matthew 26:2 points to the betrayal as
connected to the Passover. Judas had already gone to the priests and scribes. His act of betrayal was yet
future. This occurred during the Passover meal. It seems odd that Miller chose this date for the
commencement of the seventy weeks. Why did he expect such precision with the seventy weeks but not
with the 2300 days? Whatever the case, we see significance in the fact that events in 457 BC, Ezra
leaving the River Ahava on the 12D 1M, and events in 31 AD, Judas’ betrayal on the same date in 31 AD,
are connected. We believe that Miller’s mistake was in God’s providence and that there is more light to
come. We will address this in more detail later.

SNOW’S UNDERSTANDING
Samuel Snow came to realise that Jesus was crucified in the middle of the seventieth week and not
at its end. This understanding was fundamental in placing Christ’s crucifixion in 31 AD and not in 33
AD. This also furthered the understanding of the spring and fall types, as well as providing an
explanation for placing the end of the 2300 days in 1844.
Miller’s interpretation of the seventy weeks could not easily be adjusted, once the zero-year
mistake was recognised in 1843 (well one full year after the publication of the 1843 chart). While
moving the end of the 2300 days to 1844 would not have been a problem, they could not so easily move
Christ’s crucifixion to 34 AD. Snow’s solution was to place Christ’s crucifixion in 31 AD. This is first
clearly expressed in his letter that was published in the Midnight Cry! on May 2, 1844. His basis for this
was Dr. William Hales’ recently published chronology1 and the spurious Death Warrant of Jesus Christ.2
The idea that Jesus was crucified in the middle of a chiasm, commencing with His baptism and ending
with the stoning of Stephen, is something with which we are now very familiar but was not a feature of
Miller’s teaching.
This allowed Snow to place the end of the seventy weeks in the fall of 34 AD, where Miller had the
seventy weeks ending in the spring of 33 AD. Further, it allowed for the spring and fall typology of the
seventy weeks and 2300 days, respectively, to be clearly seen. This opened the door to understanding,
after their disappointment, the movement of Christ from the Holy to the Most Holy place on October 22,
1844.

DANIEL 9:26-27
We will now look at the Scripture that expresses this chiasm. We will notice that the subject is both
the crucifixion of Christ and the destruction of Jerusalem that was to follow 39 years later. The structure
of this passage is a simple repeat and enlarge.

A1 - And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:

B1 - and the people of the prince [Titus] that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;
and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

A2 - And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he
shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,

B2 - and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

A1 tells us when the week commences and what event will occur during that week, i.e. the cutting
off of the Messiah, while A2 tells us that this is to confirm the covenant by placing this event in the
middle of the week. This brings us back to Genesis 15,3 where God, in the figure of a smoking furnace
and a burning lamp, passed between the divided carcasses as He made (cut) a covenant with Abram.
B1 and B2 are direct prophecies regarding the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. B1
introduces Titus and his armies that destroy both the city and the sanctuary, while B2 emphasises the
destruction of the sanctuary itself, since it is the work of the sanctuary that typifies the sacrifice of
Christ in the midst of the week. Adam Clarke explains the significance of the passage, in regards to the
destruction or, more specifically, the profanation of the temple.

1
Dr. Hales’ work was published in 1830. Miller would not have had access to this chronology, when he first arrived at his conclusions
in 1818.
2
See the author’s paper Death Warrant of Jesus Christ: A Review.
3
And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a
turtledove, and a young pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against
another: but the birds divided he not. And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. And when the sun
was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram, Know of a
surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. And thou shalt go to
thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity
of the Amorites is not yet full. And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a
burning lamp that passed between those pieces. (Genesis 15:9-17)
“And for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate - This clause
is remarkably obscure. ‫ משמם שקוצים כנף‬kenaph shikkutsim meshomem, “And upon the
wing of abominations causing amazement.” This is a literal translation of the place; but
still there is no determinate sense. A Hebrews MS., written in the thirteenth century, has
preserved a very remarkable reading here, which frees the place from all
embarrassment. Instead of the above reading, this valuable MS. has ‫שיקוץ יהיה ובהיכל‬
ubeheychal yihyey shikkuts; that is, “And in the temple (of the Lord) there shall be
abomination.” This makes the passage plain, and is strictly conformable to the facts
themselves, for the temple was profaned; and it agrees with the prediction of our Lord,
who said that the abomination that maketh desolate should stand in the holy place,
Mat_24:15, and quotes the words as spoken δια Δανιηλ του φροφητου, by Daniel the
prophet. That the above reading gives the true sense, there can be little doubt, because it
is countenanced by the most eminent ancient versions.
“The Vulgate reads, Et erit in templo abominatio, “And in the temple there shall be
abomination.”
“The Septuagint, Και επι το ἱερον βδελυγμα των ερημωσεων, “And upon the temple
there shall be the abomination of desolation.”
“The Arabic, “And upon the sanctuary there shall be the abomination of ruin.””4

The point to be taken from this is that the specific event that relates to Christ’s crucifixion in the
midst of the week is the final destruction of the temple and its services, which were rendered invalid by
His death upon the cross.

THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE

It is interesting to note that the first temple (Solomon’s) was burned to the ground on the tenth of
Av (10D 5M) in 586 BC. We find this in Jeremiah.5

Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth
year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, which
served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem, And burned the house of the LORD, and the
king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned
he with fire: (Jeremiah 52:12-13)

According to Josephus, this is the same date that the second temple fell in 70 AD.

So Titus retired into the tower of Antonia, and resolved to storm the temple the next
day, early in the morning, with his whole army, and to encamp round about the holy
house. But as for that house, God had, for certain, long ago doomed it to the fire; and now
that fatal day was come, according to the revolution of ages; it was the tenth day of the
month Lous [Av], upon which it was formerly burnt by the king of Babylon.6
4
Adam Clarke’s Commentary
5
“It appears from the parallel passage of 2 Kings 25:8, that Nebuzar-adan came from Riblah to Jerusalem on the seventh of the fifth
month; but it seems that he did not set fire to the temple and city till the tenth day, being probably occupied on the intervening days in
taking the vessels out of the house of the Lord, and collecting together all the riches that could be found. In memory of this calamity,
the Jews devote two fasts to this day; the seventeenth of the fourth month, which falls in June [or July], for the destruction of
Jerusalem, and the ninth of the fifth month [though oddly, not the tenth of the fifth month], which falls in July [or August], for the
destruction of the temple; both of which are mentioned by Zechariah as kept from this event till his time, a period of seventy years,
under the names of the fast of the fourth month, and fast of the fifth month.” Taken from The Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge (1880)
6
Josephus, Wars of the Jews, book 6, chapter 4, paragraph 5.
Ellen White supports this account.

“Titus would willingly have put an end to the fearful scene, and thus have spared
Jerusalem the full measure of her doom. He was filled with horror as he saw the bodies
of the dead lying in heaps in the valleys. Like one entranced, he looked from the crest of
Olivet upon the magnificent temple and gave command that not one stone of it be
touched. Before attempting to gain possession of this stronghold, he made an earnest
appeal to the Jewish leaders not to force him to defile the sacred place with blood. If they
would come forth and fight in any other place, no Roman should violate the sanctity of
the temple. Josephus himself, in a most eloquent appeal, entreated them to
surrender, to save themselves, their city, and their place of worship. But his words
were answered with bitter curses. Darts were hurled at him, their last human
mediator, as he stood pleading with them. The Jews had rejected the entreaties of the
Son of God, and now expostulation and entreaty only made them more determined to
resist to the last. In vain were the efforts of Titus to save the temple; One greater than he
had declared that not one stone was to be left upon another.
“The blind obstinacy of the Jewish leaders, and the detestable crimes perpetrated
within the besieged city, excited the horror and indignation of the Romans, and Titus at
last decided to take the temple by storm. He determined, however, that if possible it
should be saved from destruction. But his commands were disregarded. After he had
retired to his tent at night, the Jews, sallying from the temple, attacked the soldiers
without. In the struggle, a firebrand was flung by a soldier through an opening in
the porch, and immediately the cedar-lined chambers about the holy house were
in a blaze. Titus rushed to the place, followed by his generals and legionaries, and
commanded the soldiers to quench the flames. His words were unheeded. In their fury
the soldiers hurled blazing brands into the chambers adjoining the temple, and then
with their swords they slaughtered in great numbers those who had found shelter there.
Blood flowed down the temple steps like water. Thousands upon thousands of Jews
perished. Above the sound of battle, voices were heard shouting: “Ichabod!”—the glory
is departed.
““Titus found it impossible to check the rage of the soldiery; he entered with his
officers, and surveyed the interior of the sacred edifice. The splendor filled them with
wonder; and as the flames had not yet penetrated to the holy place, he made a last
effort to save it, and springing forth, again exhorted the soldiers to stay the
progress of the conflagration. The centurion Liberalis endeavored to force obedience
with his staff of office; but even respect for the emperor gave way to the furious
animosity against the Jews, to the fierce excitement of battle, and to the insatiable hope
of plunder. The soldiers saw everything around them radiant with gold, which shone
dazzlingly in the wild light of the flames; they supposed that incalculable treasures were
laid up in the sanctuary. A soldier, unperceived, thrust a lighted torch between the
hinges of the door: the whole building was in flames in an instant. The blinding
smoke and fire forced the officers to retreat, and the noble edifice was left to its fate.” —
Milman, The History of the Jews, book 16.” Great Controversy, 32-34.

SETTING IT ON A LINE
We will now begin the process of placing Christ literal week on a line. To do so, we must first use
the dates of the biblical calendar. If we are to understand the placing of these events in literal days, we
must align these with the Julian calendar.
We do not deny that symbolically Christ’s covenant week is a period of seven years that are divided
into two periods of three and an half years by the cross. That is, the week would commence on the 10D
7M in 27 AD and end on the same date in 34 AD, with the cross on the 14D 1M in 31 AD. Even if we
were to use a prophetic calendar of 360 days to the year and 30 days to the month, the cross would not
be exactly in the middle. From the 10D 7M in 27 AD to the 14D 1M in 31 AD would be 42 months times
30 days plus 4 days equaling 1264 days,7 while from the 14D 1M in 31 AD to the 10D 7M in 34 AD
would be 42 months times 30 days minus 4 days equaling 1256 days. However, we could count 1260
days for each half, if we counted from the 10D 1M – the day the lamb was set aside to either end of the
seven years.

It should also be noted that in this model, there are actually 2521 days, if we are to take an account
for each day. That is, our math contains a zero that must be taken into account. That zero would be
placed on the 14D 1M 31 AD, since we are counting back from that date to 10D 7M 27 AD and forward
to 10D 7M 34 AD.

THE MIDST OF THE WEEK

If we are to count the week correctly, we must have a starting point on our calendar. We have
shown other places that, according to the Julian calendar, Jesus was crucified on Friday, April 27, 31 AD.
This can also be expressed by the Julian Day Number8 (JDN) 1732496.5, the use for which we will find
the convenience of later.9 To arrive at this date, we must follow the rules for the biblical calendar that
have been drawn from a careful study of Scripture. These rules are the only ones that can produce a
Friday crucifixion in 31 AD. If our date for the crucifixion is correct, we than can then reproduce the
biblical calendar for the period from 27 AD to 34 AD, while matching those dates with the Julian
calendar. We have included at the end of these notes just such a detailed calendar.

THE END OF THE SEVENTY WEEKS

As we noted earlier, the seventy weeks end in the fall of 34 AD, with the stoning of Stephen. It is
our contention that this would have occurred on the 10D 7M. Stephen sees Jesus standing on the right
hand of God,10 signifying a close of probation for the Jewish nation. This most fittingly would have

7
It will be seen later that the 1264 days that occurs in the symbolic seventieth week from 31 AD back to 27 AD, is represented in the
literal seven years from 31 AD to 34 AD.
8
Julian Day Numbers simply count the days and fraction which have elapsed since the start of the Julian era, which is defined as
beginning at noon on Monday, 1st January of year 4713 BC. in the Julian calendar. This date is defined in terms of a cycle of years,
but has the additional advantage that all known historical astronomical observations bear positive Julian day numbers, and periods can
be determined and events extrapolated by simple addition and subtraction. Julian dates start at noon, since their primary use is for
astronomy. To use them properly, you must always take into account the .5 at the end.
9
We use fourmilab’s calendar converter https://www.fourmilab.ch/documents/calendar/ or the 360 day calendar converter
http://www.360calendar.com/360-days-Calendar-Converter.html to convert JDN to dates on either the Julian or Gregorian calendars.
You will find that the dates that they show for the Hebrew calendar will be off by a day or two, or even a month, in some cases.
10
But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right
hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out
with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the
occurred on the Day of Atonement. Also, we have shown elsewhere that the seventy weeks commenced
on the 10D 7M in 457 BC. Since the 2300 days ends on the 10D of the 7M and, based upon this fact, it
logically follows that the seventy weeks should end on the same date.
If we are to place this date using a biblical calendar, we would find that there are 1264 days from
the cross on 14D 1M in 31 AD, with the JDN 1732496.5, to the 10D 7M in 34 AD, with the JDN
1733760.5. That is, 10D 7M on the biblical calendar is October 12 on the Julian calendar in 34 AD.

THE BEGINNING OF THE SEVENTIETH WEEK

If the seventieth week ends on the 10D 7M, it must have commenced on that date. October 12, 34
AD JDN 1733760.5 minus 2520 days is JDN 1732140.5. This would only bring us to November 18, 27
AD, in that it does not take into account the fact that the biblical calendar has months that are either 30
or 29 days long and that there is a thirteenth month added every second, or third, year to align the start
of the year to the spring equinox. The 10D 7M in 27 AD is September 30. Also, if we are to count 1260
days back in time from the cross, we would have to count April 27, 31 AD as day 1 and not as day 0.
That is, we must subtract 1259 from the JDN 1732496.5 and not 1260 days. This brings us to JDN
1731237.5 or November 15, 27 AD. This is still 46 days short of reaching back to the 10D 7M in 27 AD.
To be clear, the 2520 days, which is the sum of the two periods of 1260 days, includes the first and last
days in the count. If you were to simply add 2570 days to September 30, 27 AD, you would arrive at the
11D 7M or October 13, 34 AD. It should also be noted that this 2520 plus 50 can be understood as a
2520 plus Pentecost. Also, it is 2570 days from any date in 27 AD to the same date in 34 AD, on the
biblical calendar. .

THE PROPHETIC MIRROR AND THE WEEK OF CHRIST

For anyone familiar with the 2604 year prophetic mirror that is created by the two 2520’s, with
the starting date of 742 BC given in Isaiah 7 and the ending with the hiding of the 2520 on the 1863
chart, it can readily be seen that the 46 years between the Day of Atonement on September 30 and the
limit of 1260 days back from the cross that fall on November 15, 27 AD are not happenstance. It is our
suggestion that what we see is parallel to the prophetic mirror but in reverse. If we place 538 AD under
the cross and see the two 1260’s as being a mirror of the paganism and papalism counterfeit covenant
week, November 15, 27 AD would line up with 1798 and September 30 would line up with 1844.
Likewise, the years that commence the prophetic mirrors would line up with dates in 34 AD. We would
have to extend both ends of Christ’s week 19 days at the beginning of the chiasm and 15 days at the end.
This would give us a complete chiasm of 2604 literal days. The date in 27 BC that would line up with
1863 would be September 11. 742 BC would line up with October 27, 34 AD. 723 BC would line up with
October 8, while 677 BC would line up with August 25, 34 AD.
While it may take time for the reader to process this “backwards” chronology, it should readily be
seen that it is reasonable and that a forward chronology would not align 1844 with the 10D 7M as does
this backwards structure. This is simply a mirror of how we normally see the chronology. It should also
be noted that Hebrew is written from right to left and not from left to right. There should be no need to

witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and
saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And
when he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:55-60)
have dates only moving from left to right.

THE DESTRUCTION OF THE TEMPLE IN 70 AD

The structure and logic behind the laying out of the chart is further bolstered by the fact that
Daniel 9:26 and 27 also addresses the destruction of the temple in 70 AD and that, when this year is
laid out below the line of the seventieth week, it aligns with the 10D 5M or August 7, 32 AD, the very
date that on both the biblical and Julian calendars the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. To understand
what we have done more clearly, we counted 468 days forward from April 27, 31 AD to represent the
468 years moving backwards from 538 AD to 70 AD. That is, if we take the JDN for April 27, 31 AD
(1732496.5) and add 468 days, we arrived at JDN 1732964.5, which is August 7 in 32 AD. When we take
into account the rules for the biblical calendar, we find that this date is Av 10 (10D 5M). The chance of
this aligning with the 10D 5M in 32 AD in the week of Christ is 3.6524 x 102. When we consider that this is
also the same date on both calendars (Julian and biblical), the odds increase to 1.07855372 x 104. Taken along
with everything else we see in the structure of this week, it can only be seen as design.

151 SHEKELS
Many of us are familiar with the 126 shekels that are an expression of the mene, mene tekel,
upharsin of Daniel 5. We have long understood that these can represent the years from 1863 to the time
of the end in 1989. In 2012 it was applied to the period from 1888 to 2014, while a period of 151 years
was seen in the shekels, if we apply the maneh of 60 shekels, rather than 50 shekels, to the calculation,
providing us with a second witness for 2014.11
We can also add the 151 years (go back 151 days) on our timeline to mark 2014. The date we
arrive at on the biblical calendar is 17D 1M. When this was first noticed, there was a disappointment
that it did not rest on 14D 1M (Passover), since it is understood that 2014 is symbolised by May 2
(Passover) in 1844. This is the date that Samuel Snow published his article showing the midst of the
week chiasm that we are presently examining. We have also demonstrated elsewhere that this is the

11
And the shekel shall be twenty gerahs: twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, fifteen shekels, shall be your maneh. (Ezekiel 45:12)
That is, 20 + 25 + 15 = 60 shekels per maneh. It is interesting that the numbers of gerahs that are produced, if we apply the 60 shekels
to the calculation from Daniel 5, we arrive at 3020 gerahs. That is, we have seen the 126 shekels as 2520 gerahs. This would mean
that 151 shekels would be 3020 gerahs. If we subtract the year 2014 from 3020 years, we arrive at 1006 BC. This is the year that
Solomon’s temple was completed. However, we are not adjusting for there being no zero year. If we do so, it brings us to 1007 BC,
one year before the completion of the temple.
centre of a chiasm create by Samuel Snow’s 1844 articles/letters commencing with his first letter dated
February 16, and ending three days before midnight with his last letter published on July 18. It is also
clearly demonstrated by Snow’s letters that there are two Passover’s in 1844 - the incorrect Passover
on April 3, the date that his first letter was republished in the Signs and which was the Passover kept by
the Jews (both Rabbinic and Karaite) in 1844, and the Passover on May 2, which the those who
accepted the true midnight cry understood as being the correct one. If May 2, the correct Passover in
1844, symbolises 2014, why does 2014 not align with 14D 1M (Passover) in our timeline?

1844 X 360 = 633,840 DAYS

There is further evidence that the date 2014 aligning with the 17D 1M is correct. While this study
was first being understood, it was noted that there may be significance in the fact that the Jewish
prophetic year of 360 days, multiplied by 1844, was close to the number of days from Pentecost in 31
AD to October 22, 1844. That is, from June 17, 31 AD (JDN 1732547.5) to October 22, 1844 (JDN
2394861.5) is 662314 days. 662314 days divided by 359 (the prophetic year with the Days of
Atonement removed) is 1844 years, 10 months and 18 days. That is, it falls 318 days short of reaching
its goal, in that 359 times 1844 is only 661996 days. This idea was then applied to trying to understand
the significance of 17D 1M. Instead of removing the Day of Atonement from the prophetic year, we
simply multiply 1844 by 360 to arrive at 663,840 days. We then count backwards from October 22
1844 (JDN 2394861.5) 663840 days to and arrive at April 13, 27 AD (JDN 1731021.5) or the 17D 1M
that aligns with 2014. That this number aligns with 2014 is remarkable, to say the least. It also allows
us to take the next step.

2017 IS PASSOVER
While it is understood that 2014 is Passover, we must also understand that 2017 is also Passover.
That is, in 2012 a Sunday law was predicted by using the 126 shekels and the 151 shekels. We now
understand that the Sunday law and midnight are the same waymark. We had made a fundamental flaw
in our use of fractals to identify the close of probation for Seventh–day Adventists as the Sunday law.
We did not recognise that while Sunday law is a close of probation for some, this is not the meaning or
nature of the Sunday law itself. On the big line, the close of probation is not the Sunday law. It is the
clarification of this point that allowed us to recognise that a Sunday law did occur in 2014 as predicted.
That is, 2014 was midnight and the events that occurred marked the separation between the false and
true priests. This separation is marked by the acceptance, or rejection, of the advancing light of the
third angel.12
It is further suggested that 2017 marks the end of this period of separation, in that it aligns with
Passover in 27 AD. Also, in 2017, Samuel Snow’s letters were showing us that we were at May 2 in 1844
or, in other words, at Passover. Just as there are two “Passovers” in 1844, there are two Passovers in our
history. It must also be recognised that from 1863 to 2017 is 154 years. This is the same number of days
from the writing of Snow’s first letter and the publication of his last letter prior to July 21, 1844. That is,
the chiasm created by Snow’s letter runs from February 16 to May 2 (2 months and 16 days or 77 days)

12
It is interesting that in April 13, 27 AD, the date that aligns with 2014 on our chart, is Sunday.
and from May 2 to July 18 (2 months and 16 days or 77 days).13

MOVING FORWARD BY GOING BACKWARDS

If the years 2014 and 2017 can be seen on the bottom line of our chart, why can we not follow
along the line into the future? If we did, what would be the key to understanding the significance of the
dates produced? It is our suggestion that we can find the key in the events of Christ’s final week leading
to the cross. We first look at the date found in Ezra 8:31, the twelfth day of the first month, from which
Miller first marked the going forth of the commandment in 457 BC, and the date which Miller believed
marked the end of the seventy weeks in 33 AD, with Jesus crucifixion. Though Miller’s understanding of
the chronology was incorrect (Jesus was crucified on the Nisan 14 and not Nisan 12), there is still
significance in this date.
For one, most chronologies of the Passion Week mark the 12D 1M as the day that Judas sells Jesus
for thirty pieces of silver. That is, Judas first betrays Christ to the priests and scribes after the Sabbath
meal in Bethany five days before Passover. “From the supper he went directly to the palace of the high
priest, where he found the council assembled, and he offered to betray Jesus into their hands.” (Desire of
Ages, 563.3) Judas returns a second time that is often marked as being two days before the Passover or
on the 12D 1M. Sister White mentions this in connexion with Jesus washing the disciple’s feet but does
not give us the exact day when this occurs.

“Before the Passover Judas had met a second time with the priests and
scribes, and had closed the contract to deliver Jesus into their hands. Yet he
afterward mingled with the disciples as though innocent of any wrong, and
interested in the work of preparing for the feast. The disciples knew nothing of the
purpose of Judas. Jesus alone could read his secret. Yet He did not expose him. Jesus
hungered for his soul. He felt for him such a burden as for Jerusalem when He wept over
the doomed city. His heart was crying, How can I give thee up? The constraining power of
that love was felt by Judas. When the Saviour’s hands were bathing those soiled feet, and
wiping them with the towel, the heart of Judas thrilled through and through with the
impulse then and there to confess his sin. But he would not humble himself. He hardened
his heart against repentance; and the old impulses, for the moment put aside, again
controlled him. Judas was now offended at Christ’s act in washing the feet of His
disciples. If Jesus could so humble Himself, he thought, He could not be Israel’s king. All
hope of worldly honor in a temporal kingdom was destroyed. Judas was satisfied that
there was nothing to be gained by following Christ. After seeing Him degrade Himself, as
he thought, he was confirmed in his purpose to disown Him, and confess himself
13
It should be noted that the straight math produces 153 days, while the counting of each day produces 154 days. The number 153 is
significant and is found in John 21:11. “Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and
three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.” It is a symbol meaning ‘to prophesy again’. It is also the same
number of years that Miller added to Ussher’s chronology to arrive at 1844 for the end of the 6000 years. 4157 + 1843 = 6000. We
believe that the significance of 153 is not yet fully understood. It is also produced by multiplying 17 by 9.
deceived. He was possessed by a demon, and he resolved to complete the work he had
agreed to do in betraying his Lord.” Desire of Ages 645.

Since the preparations for the Passover were on the Thursday, Judas must have settled his
arrangement with the priests some time prior to Thursday. An argument for placing this two days
before Passover comes from Matthew 26.

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is
betrayed to be crucified. Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and
the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, And
consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. But they said, Not on the
feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. (Matthew 26:2-5)

It appears that this consolation occurred two days prior to the Passover. This would be an
opportunity for Judas to meet with them the second time. The apparent problem here is that the story
is followed by an account of the feast at Simon’s house, which we have placed as occurring on the
Sabbath or the 9D 1M. The suggestion is that this account is a flashback to Judas’ first betrayal meeting.
This would mean that verse 14-16 that gives an account of the betrayal is most likely the first and not
the second.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said
unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted
with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray
him. (Matthew 26:14-16)

From the context and language of this passage, it would appear to be a reference to what Ellen
White places as occurring after the Sabbath supper in Bethany.
Where then can we place the event that Sister White refers to? “Before the Passover Judas had met
a second time with the priests and scribes.” The answer would have to be found in a complete account
of events. When this is done, it appears that on the Wednesday, little occurs. Most commentators note
that it is a day that Jesus, and His disciples, rest and the day that Judas meets with the priests and
scribes for the second time. From Luke 22, it appears to be the day prior to their Passover preparation,
which was on the Thursday.

Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. And the
chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. Then
entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he
went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray
him unto them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. And he
promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the
multitude. Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
(Luke 22:1-8)

We admit that the placing of Judas’ second betrayal is problematic. However, it appears that he first
betrays Jesus to the leaders on the Sabbath, then again four days later on the Wednesday and, finally,
the night of the Passover meal.
PASSING OVER THE GROUND STEP BY STEP
If we are to understand how to interpret and use this chiasm to foresee the events that lie before
us, we must do so using a correct methodology. We find caution and guidance in these words of
Inspiration.

“The burden of the warning now to come to the people of God, nigh and afar off, is
the third angel’s message. And those who are seeking to understand this message
will not be led by the Lord to make an application of the Word that will undermine
the foundation and remove the pillars of the faith that has made Seventh-day
Adventists what they are today. The truths that have been unfolding in their order, as
we have advanced along the line of prophecy revealed in the Word of God, are truth,
sacred, eternal truth today. Those who passed over the ground step by step in the
past history of our experience, seeing the chain of truth in the prophecies, were
prepared to accept and obey every ray of light. They were praying, fasting, searching,
digging for the truth as for hidden treasures, and the Holy Spirit, we know, was teaching
and guiding us. Many theories were advanced, bearing a semblance of truth, but so
mingled with misinterpreted and misapplied scriptures, that they led to dangerous
errors. Very well do we know how every point of truth was established, and the seal set
upon it by the Holy Spirit of God. And all the time voices were heard, “Here is the truth,”
“I have the truth; follow me.” But the warnings came, “Go not ye after them. I have not
sent them, but they ran.”” 2 Selected Messages, 103.

It is clear that the truths only unfold as we pass over the ground of our experience, where
prophecies are in process of fulfilment.

“There are those now living who in studying the prophecies of Daniel and John,
received great light from God as they passed over the ground where special
prophecies were in process of fulfillment in their order. They bore the message of
time to the people. The truth shone out clearly as the sun at noonday. Historical events,
showing the direct fulfillment of prophecy, were set before the people, and the
prophecy was seen to be a figurative delineation of events leading down to the
close of this earth’s history. The scenes connected with the working of the man of sin
are the last features revealed in this earth’s history. The people now have a special
message to give to the world, the third angel’s message. Those who, in their experience,
have passed over the ground and acted a part in the proclamation of the first, second,
and third angel’s messages, are not so liable to be led into false paths as are those who
have not had an experimental knowledge of the people of God.” 17 Manuscript Releases,
1.7.

“And when the Light of the World, the Sun of Righteousness, had once risen, its
illuminating rays were not only reflecting light to the future, but back through
preceding generations, giving significance to the whole plan and purpose of God from
Adam’s day down through all the patriarchs and prophets. The old ceremonies were
lighted up. These luminaries which God had placed in the moral heavens were never
more to grow dim, but were to shine with clearer, steadier rays as the light from the
cross of Calvary flashed upon the prophetic past.” The Present Truth, November 4,
1886, par. 7.

If we understand these statements correctly, we must believe that the light of the cross, as seen in
the midst of the seventieth prophetic week, not only sheds light upon the prophetic past but that that
light reflects to our future, since prophecy is seen to be a figurative delineation of events leading down
to the close of this earth’s history. This would allow us to continue to follow the light as it leads us down
the path of prophecy to the celestial city.

A PREDICTION
If we are to place the 12D 1M on the line, it aligns with 2019. If Judas’ betrayal occurred on that
day, would it mean that we could see Judas betray us in 2019? Also, the 12D 1M in 2019 is April 18. Is it
possible that this marks a date where such a betrayal or the results of such a betrayal could be
manifest?
Also, when we examine the main events of the week, the events that we see in Christ’s life going
forward, we understand that we are to fulfill, though in reverse order. These events are; Judas’ betrayal,
the cleansing of the temple and the triumphal entry. It is possible that if the first of these events are
fulfilled in the years suggested, we could expect the other events to follow in the years indicated.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Whatever we may think about the possibility of predictions resulting from a closer examination of
the covenant week, it is clear that the basic structure of our prophetic chronology is sound. Also this is
further confirmation of the correctness of the prophetic periods and the methods of study used. When
this is considered in the light of Samuel Snow’s letters, the present truth application of Daniel 11 and
many others lines of study that are coming together in this message, it seems reasonable to consider
any predication as a result of this study to be confirm by these other lines.
The possibility of Judas’ betrayal affecting this movement in the next year is very real. Even where
we are now in 2018 can be understood in the Passover week in 31 AD. The more we understand the
significance of the events that led Jesus to the Cross, the more we can understand the events that lead
us to the second coming.

ADDENDUM
INTRODUCTION
Since the campmeeting notes were printed, new light has arisen from the study of Christ’s
covenant week, especially in light of the significance of the dates from the counterfeit covenant. These
dates that go backwards underneath the line are significant in the way they demonstrate the close of
probation for the priests, which we place at November 9, 2019. To understand their significance we
must look at a few stories. First, we will look at the story of Jeroboam offering upon the altar at Bethel
on the 15D 8M in 977 BC. Second, we will review the prophecy of Josiah, given on that date and
understand how Ezekiel’s midnight prediction on 5D 4M (July 21, 592) BC, in Ezekiel 4:4-6, parallels
Snow’s midnight predication in Boston on 5D 4M (July 21), 1844.

15D 8M
The kingdom of Judah divides with the death of Solomon in in early 977 BC, with Jeroboam taking
over the northern kingdom and Rehoboam retaining the southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin. This
occurs after 120 years of Israel united under Saul, David and Solomon. To retain the kingdom that he
has taken, Jeroboam sets up a counterfeit worship of two Golden calves - one at Dan and Bethel – and he
was serving at the altar at Bethel on his counterfeit Day of Atonement, when a “man of God out of
Judah” give a prophecy predicting the actions of Josiah 350 years later.

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the
month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in
Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests
of the high places which he had made. So he offered upon the altar which he had made in
Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of
his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the
altar, and burnt incense. And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the
word of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. And
he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the
LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and
upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and
men's bones shall be burnt upon thee. And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is
the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that
are upon it shall be poured out. And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the
saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his
hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against
him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. The altar also was rent, and the
ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by
the word of the LORD. (1 Kings 12:32-33; 13:1-5)

5D 4M
This prophecy of Josiah is picked up by the prophet Ezekiel in the acted out prophecy 4:4-6, where
he lies on his left side for 390 days and his right for 40 days.

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the
month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened,
and I saw visions of God. In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king
Jehoiachin's captivity…. Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house
of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou
shalt bear their iniquity. For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to
the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of
the house of Israel. And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side,
and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee
each day for a year. (Ezekiel 1:1-2; 4:4-6)

In fact, Ezekiel 1:1-2 references Josiah, since the thirtieth year mentioned is the thirtieth year since
the Passover of Josiah in 622 BC, which occurs in his eighteenth year of reign. Standing at the 5D 4M in
592 BC, Ezekiel utilises the giving of the prophecy in 977 and its fulfilment in 627, to point to the siege
of Jerusalem in 587 BC. 390 years from 977 and 40 years from 627 point to the commencement of the
siege. The destruction of Jerusalem occurs eighteen months after the siege began. The period of the
kings of Judah extends for 391 years and 6 months, from early in 977 to July of 586 BC.

SNOW AND JOSIAH

It is hard not to recognise the similarity between the 391 years and 6 months of the reigns of the
kings of Judah and the 391 years and 15 days of Josiah Litch’s prediction that utilises the hour, day,
month and year of Revelation 9:15. There is can be seen a symmetry, in the comparison of the two
periods that may easily be overlooked. Both 391 year periods are preceded by a period of time. The
prophecy of Josiah follows a period of 120 years, broken into three periods of forty years, one for each
of the first three kings of united Israel. Josiah Litch’s prophecy follows 150 years broken into five
months of thirty years each.14
Of greater significance is the recognition that both Ezekiel and Snow are giving a message at
midnight and making a prediction built upon a prophetic foundation. For Ezekiel, this was the prophecy
of Leviticus 26, the basis for the day for a year application that he is making to predict the siege and
ultimate destruction of Jerusalem.

SOME CALCULATIONS
Let us examine the principle year dates on below the line and see what connexions exist between
these and the day dates. If we are to understand any significance in any date, there must be a story that
connects the date to some event(s) in a meaningful way.

14
The periods of 391 years are appended by a short period that is a fraction of the first period. In the 6 months, half of a year, it is
1/240th of the 120 years. The one hour, understood as 15 days, is half of a month, as an hour, it is 1/24th of a day. In a 5 month period
of time, one hour is 1/3600th of the first period.
742 BC
Let us begin with the date for the commencement of the prophetic mirror that falls on the Tishri
25 (October 27) 34 AD. Both the Julian and biblical dates have no apparent significance. Tishri 25 can
be written as 25D 7M. We can connect this to the period of 2570 days from 10D 7M in 27 AD to the 10D
7M in 34 AD, by removing the letters and adding a zero. Further, if we take the date October 27 on the
Gregorian calendar15 in 742 BC, it aligns with Heshvan 1516 or, as we write it in this message, 15D 8M.
This is the date that Jeroboam set aside as a counterfeit feast day. In 977 BC, according to 1 Kings 12
and 13, Jeroboam is offering on the newly built altar at Bethel on this date which is November 22, on
the Julian calendar.

We have examined this prophecy other places. It was fulfilled in the thirteenth year of Josiah,
exactly 350 years later. This prophecy was also used by Ezekiel in the prophecy of 390 and 40 days (see;
Ezekiel 4:4-6), each day for a year, counting 390 years from 977 BC and 40 years from 627 BC (the year
the prophecy was fulfilled) to mark the commencement of the siege of Jerusalem in 587 BC, eighteen
months before its destruction. We have noted other places that there is a correlation with the 391 year
15 day prophecy of Revelation 9:15. That is, there is a connexion between the prophecy of Josiah and
the prophecy expounded upon by Josiah Litch.
We also find that from 977, when the kingdom is divided to the destruction of Jerusalem in 391
years and six months. This can be understood by simply adding the years of reign given in Scripture for
each of the kings of Judah.17 If we then count 391.5 days from 977 BC, what date will we arrive at? First,
what date should we start at?
If we begin in 977 BC using the biblical calendar, we begin with the JDN 1364899.5 (November
22). We would then either add or subtract 391.5 days. When we do the results are not completely
favourable. Subtraction produces JDN 1364508 produces the Julian date of October 27 (which we saw
connected with 742 BC on the line), while the Gregorian date is October 18. If we add 391.5 days to
November 22, it produces JDN 1365291. This date gives us nothing at all. We find more interesting
results when we use the modern Hebrew date for 977 BC. Heshvan 15 in 977 is October 13 on the
Gregorian calendar and October 22 on the Julian. It is connecting the counterfeit Day of Atonement with
the true and also incorporating October 13, which is, as shown by Tess Lambert, Fatima day. When we
count 391.5 days from this date, JDN 1364869, we arrive at 1365260.5 or November 9 on the Gregorian
calendar.18
There is also further significance in the date October 13, in that this is the date chosen by Miller for
the close of probation in 1844.

“Your next question is, Was the atonement, made by the High Priest on the tenth
day of the seventh month, typical of the second coming of Christ as to time? I answer, it
must be as to the time in the year; for so have all the others been fulfilled; and Paul
evidently alludes to it in Hebrews 9:28, "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of

15
This date in 34 AD is Julian. The Julian date for Heshvan 15 in 742 BC is November 4, in that the Julian year is 8 days ahead of the
Gregorian in 742 BC.
16
This is the date using both the Hebrew and Babylonian calendars. In 742 BC, there should be a leap month added between the
Jewish year 743 and 742, since the first visible crescent would have been sighted on the evening of March 28, one day before the
vernal equinox. This would make October 27 fall on Tishri 15, which commences the feat of tabernacles.

It must be noted that I am counting from noon on October 13 to the commencement of November 9 (midnight). This was discovered
on noon October 13, 2018 and counting from that date 391.5 days leads us to midnight commencing November 9, 2019 - the day that
the Berlin wall began to come down. The miracle at Fatima also occurred at noon on October 13, 1917.
many; and unto them that look for him shall be appear the second time without sin unto
salvation." As that was the day when the Jewish High Priest every year came out and
blessed his people, so must our High Priest come, once for all, to bless and save his,
people, after he has finished making the atonement; and then the door will be shut. I am
strong in my opinion that the next [Sunday, October 13] will be the last Lord's day
sinners will ever have in probation; and within ten or fifteen days from thence, they
will see Him, whom they have hated and despised, to their shame and everlasting
contempt. Oh what will then become of nominal, cold-hearted scoffers and professors.
Have mercy, Oh God, have mercy upon them. I can be of no use in Boston; in twenty days
or less, I shall see all that love Jesus. My health is such that I cannot be present at your
Conference. The Lord bless and save you all when he comes. Amen and amen.” Wm.
Miller. Low Hampton, Oct. 6, 1844.

723 BC
The date 723 BC aligns with October 8, 34 AD, which is September 30, on the Julian calendar.
According to the covenant week, September 30 marks the 10D 7M in 27 AD - the date that starts the
seventieth week. Since we have connected October, 13, October 22 and Heshvan 25 - the counterfeit
feast day of Jeroboam - together, we can see that this date typifies a close of probation. 723 BC is a close
of probation for northern Israel, as well.

677 BC
The year 677 BC, on the line, lines up with Av 21 (August 25) 34 AD. Once again, there is no
seeming significance in either the biblical date or the attendant Julian date. Since 677 BC is 300 years
after 977 BC, we will look at what date 300 days after Av 21, 677 BC produces. That is, if we take the
JDN 1474373.5 for August 13, 677 BC and go 300 days back, instead of 300 years, we arrive at JDN
1474073.5, which is Heshvan 15.19

SUMMARY
If we are going to have an understanding of the significance of the prediction of November 9, 2019,
we must be able to explain this. It seems clear that as we pass along the ground, the light that illumines
the past shines upon our future. The epitome of this is the cross of Christ. That it is Christ hanging
between heaven and earth in the midst of the covenant week that gives us this present light is
extremely significant. We have tied this chiasm to May2, 1844, in that it is the centre of a chiasm
explaining this very chiasm. Also, we have understood that this is the PBcop, once labelled the PBM.

19
Technically, Av 21 is JDN 1474372.5 and Heshvan 15 is JDN 147072.5. The results are the same.
