QUALITY POLICY

functional responsibilities
Introduction
The Air Traffic Services at Rajahmundry Airport are provided by Aerodrome control
Tower, which also provides Approach control service, Flight Information Service and
Alerting services.
Operations consists of two shifts for covering the Watch Hours as Specified in
the NOTAMs from time to time. Each shift consists of a minimum of two ATCO’s (one
Duty officer, also called as ‘D’ controller and one Assistant controller also called
as ‘A’ controller).
The duties and responsibilities listed below are in addition to those mentioned in
MATS part 1
a. Ensure safe, orderly and expeditious flow of Air Traffic at Rajahmundry Airport,
b. Plan, project and supervise all short term and long-term ATM requirements viz;
1. Air Space Management
2. Infrastructure
3. ATS personnel;

• Issue of rating
General
This division is headed by ATS In-Charge.
2.4 Operations
General
a. Operations division is directly responsible for the direct control of Air traffic
using computerized/ digitized radio communications and other aids.
b. Separation responsibility, expeditious service and safety are the primary
functions of this division.
c. ATS personnel in this division work in two shifts and provide hours of air traffic
services daily for covering published watch hours. Senior most rated officer in
the shift is overall In-Charge of each shift. He coordinates with associated
organizations viz., other wings of AAI, MET, Airport Health, Airline Operator,
and Police, City fire brigade, Air force and Army etc. during contingencies.
d. These services are the most visible ones to the end user and comprise the largest
segment.
Composition
Aerodrome control Tower consists of two positions, they are Duty officer (ATC)
and Tower Assistants (‘A’ Controllers).
Composition
At present, ATS Reporting Office is not established at Rajahmundry Airport. All
the functions of ATS reporting Office shall be carried out by Duty Officer (ATC),
assisted by Tower ‘A’ controller.
The relieving officer shall first ‘take over watch’ in the logbook and sign to that effect
followed by the ‘handing over watch’ by the relieved officer.
All ATC Officers before taking over watch must familiarize themselves with-
vii. Status of serviceability of Radio Navigational aids / landing aids visuals aids
etc.
Viii Status of serviceability of crash and fire alarm siren and bell (wherever
Applicable)
ATS In-Charge of ATC Centre/ Airport shall ensure strict compliance with these
instructions.

Duty controllers shall coordinate with other ATS units and agencies as specified in MATS
(Part 2) chapter 20
Apart from this the relevant documents and circulars are available as soft copies in desktop.
Individual ATM officer’s files are maintained with all training records and rating details with ATM
In-charge.
