Quarter 2 Objectives

Reading:
Vocabulary:
• Uses text clues such as words or pictures to discern meaning of unknown
words
• Use vocabulary from other content areas

Fiction:
• Organize and record info by using GO such as charts and maps
• Retell stories and events using beginning, middle, and end and including key
details
• Describe characters, setting, and important events
• Ask and answer who, what, when, where, why, and how questions about what is
read
• Make connections before, during, and after reading
• Make and confirm predictions
• Preview the selection and set a purpose for reading

Nonfiction:
• Use simple reference materials to gain info
• Organize and record info by using GO
• Retell NF texts, id main idea and important details
• Ask and answer who, what, when, where, why, and how questions about what is
read

Writing:
Writes to communicate ideas for a variety of purposes
