Please insert comment as needed in the table below.

You may wish to consider:

• suitability of cohort access

• suitability of equipment to deliver curriculum outcomes
• suitability of controls to minimise risk
• prohibition of some items
• alternative items of equipment
• modifications that could make certain equipment safer.

Please note that this consultation process is to identify issues that may impact on the use and
practicality of the risk assessment advice. It is not a survey based upon the number of
responses received. Please restrict comments to your area of teaching expertise. A minimal
response such as “OK” or “needed for Year 12” is acceptable.

Prin P
Last Update: 20/09/2010 09:47 These machines come in a variety of sizes and consist of a horizontal table that moves under a roller by the activation of a hand wheel.

It is essential that print making machines be fitted with a locking device to the operating hand wheel to prevent unauthorised operation. A nip point guard
should be fitted across the nip point created by the roller and table.

Additional precautions need to be undertaken when cleaning the machine with solvents.

See: Appendix B for DET Usage Control.

This equipment has been externally risk assessed for DET:

Variation to DET ‘Year/Cohort’ control is not permitted.
