ANNUAL REPORT 2012-2013, 2015-16

The below mentioned annual reports of two years represents that HEC has taken several
initiatives in past as well as in recent years in relation to its employees, company’s township etc.

1. INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

The year 2012-13 saw recruitment of total 500 persons including 369 technical workers.
Recruitment of technical workers has been made in the Corporation after a gap of about 20
years. Indefinite Dharna/demonstration /Gherao etc. has been organized by dependents of
deceased employees w.e.f. 13.04.2012 near HEC Headquarters gate seeking employment with
HEC but because of company’s policy employment couldn’t be guaranteed.
2. EMPLOYEE WELFARE
The company has worked and is working on way for its employees. It has its own Township,
Plant Hospital and dispensaries for the regular employees. Contract workers are extended
medical benefit under ESI Scheme for which subscription amount is paid by the Company to the
respective contractors. Superannuated employees are extended free indoor & outdoor medical
facility in HEC Plant Hospital

3. STATUS OF SCHEDULED CASTES AND SCHEDULED TRIBES

i). Number of SC & ST employees as on 31.03.2013 stood at 355 and 481 respectively

ii). Percentage of SC & ST employees w.r.t total employees stood as 14.86% and 20.13%
respectively.
iii). Out of 500 recruitments made during the year 2012-2013, 72 nos. of SC candidates & 143
nos. of ST candidates have joined.
4. SWACHH BHARAT MISSION
In order to improve health and cleanliness in HEC, the cleanliness drive was being taken up in
different Plants/Divisions of HEC involving all employees/contract workers. Under this activity
following measures were taken by HEC:-
i) Oath of Swachh Bharat was taken by all employees/contracts workers. All of them are
themselves cleaning their working places and adjoining areas. ii) In the plant level Inter-
shop/Deptt. competition on Best shop for maintenance of Cleanliness was organized in each
Plant. Awards have been give on Independence & Republic Day function by CMD. iii)
Employees/contract workers and school children participated in Skits, poems, slogans and
Painting competitions. They were awarded by CMD.

5. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY


Inspite of poor financial condition, company continued CSR activities like (i) running Nursing
School, (ii) running Industrial Training Institute and (iii) Arranging medical camps with the help
of its Hospital. Details of activities carried out by HEC Hospital during 2015-16 are as under:
 Free Blind relief camps where 150 patients out of 225 admitted were operated. Majority
of the patients were from BPL families.
 Organization of Blood Donation Camp on regular interval.
 Free Physiotherapy Camp in association with Ayush Foundation, Ranchi was organized
in December 2014 where total 40 patients attended the camp.
