Appendicitis
Appendicitis is inflammation of vermiform appendix whereas patient
presented with abdominal pain migrating from periumbilical or epigastric to
right iliac fossa, associated with fever, nausea vomiting, anorexia, and
abdominal tenderness . The gold-standard treatment for appendicitis is
appendectomy or conservative treatment depending on the presentation of
the patient.

The purple-topped tube with EDTA anti coagulant is used to collect 7ml of
venous blood. As an alternative, 2 purple-tipped cappiliary tubes can be used
to collect blood from a heelstick, earlobe or finger pucture.

A. Pre Test – Explain that sample urine is needed, its purpose and
procedure
- Give clean vial and instruct to void directly into the specimen
bottle
- Allow at least 10ml collection
B. During the Test – Observation (difficulty in voiding, color, odor)
