CHEM-ENG 621 Thermodynamics I, Fall 2018

1 Basic information

Grading
Homework: 40%
Mid-term exam (2018-10-29): 30%
Final exam (2018-12-14): 30%

Homework
Homework will be assigned roughly weekly and will be due one week later at the beginning
of class. Late submissions will be accepted only under exceptional circumstances.

Exams
Exams will be open notes. Calculators may be needed. Smart phones must be switched to
offline mode if used as calculator substitutes. Requests for a make-up exam will be considered
under exceptional circumstances and should be accompanied by supporting documentation.

Academic Honesty
Violations of University regulations on academic honesty whether in connection with home-
work or exams will be handled according to procedures described in the University’s Code of
Student Conduct (available online at http://www.umass.edu/dean_students/academic_
policy). Potential penalties include failure for the entire course. Whenever in doubt about
the expectations for a specific assignment or exam, ask.
