PERFORMANCE TASK GUIDELINES FOR THE 2ND QUARTER
PETA #1: SONG TO SPEECH
1. This Performance Task is meant to measure your capability to deliver a memorized speech.
2. You will select a song, and deliver it before the class.
3. Your delivery of the song should not reflect the rhythm, intonation, and meter of the song.
4. You will not sing the song, rather, you have to give life to the song by delivering it in a form of speech.
The challenge is to give a justified representation of the song.
5. Organize parts of the song, so that the speech will have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. It is
expected that 70% of your speech consists of the lines from the song.
6. This is a mid-level memorized speech. The teacher will not request for a copy of your prepared material.
7. Utilize your talent in verbal and non-verbal communication.
8. Delivery should be within the 2-3 minute time allotment. Going under, or beyond time will have necessary
deductions.
9. Time cards will be used to remind you during the delivery.
a. Green – 2:00 (safe)
b. Yellow – 2:30 (warning)
c. Red – 2:50 (wrap up)
