Giving: The Fuel of Support for the

Montgomery Baptist Association
At Thorington Road Baptist Church we are excited and
privileged to financially invest as well as serve with the
staff of the Montgomery Baptist Association (MBA). First
and foremost, we are glad to have Neal Hughes lead the
MBA as our director of missions. I know you have heard
it said that everything rises and falls on leadership. We
feel that God placed Neal in Montgomery at just the right
time to lead our Association to make a difference in the
River Region.
Financial resources play a large part in being able to
accomplish all the Lord leads us to do. Thorington Road
Eddie Newton Baptist Church has a strong desire to be a part of what God
is doing in Montgomery. We also want to be a part of how
our Savior is using the resources provided to the MBA.
I believe giving can be understood in three basic principles.
The first principle would be Unity. Ephesians 4 clearly states that there is
“one body, one spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God
and Father of all.” If we understand this scripture, then we are all united
through Christ to give together through the MBA to effectively reach
people with the Gospel.
The second principle is Ability. God has given each of us the ability to
serve. Everyone is uniquely gifted to serve the MBA with time and gifts.
The third principle is Responsibility. Each church within the MBA has
the responsibility to give and work together for the common goal of
advancing the kingdom of Christ. Later in Ephesians 4, we learn about the
body and how it works together. We are to give together and work together
in the same way the body is joined and held by every joint. As all parts are
equipped and working properly, the body grows and builds itself up in love.
It is through working together financially that we can minister best to the River
Region. “Together We Can!” is the motto established for Montgomery Baptist
Association. I believe that if the churches of the MBA continue to come
together in unity, use the resources which God has so richly blessed us, and
recognize that we all share in this responsibility, then, to God be the glory,
Great Things He Will Do!
