Metallurgy & Materials Engineering Society, is a

student organization of the Department of Metallurgy

and Materials Engineering, VSSUT Burla. It was the
year 2013 when this organization came in existence and
since then it has been playing a significant role in the
college. To become a pioneering Department in the
college for teaching, research and consultancy in
emerging areas of materials science and engineering
while consolidating the Department's strength in
traditional areas of metallurgical engineering. The
department of MME is accredited by its NAAC status
which shows its true strength. It acts as an interface
between student and the faculty, thereby, removing the
gap between them.
Society deals with the problems of the students, analyses them and place them before faculty
for their advice. There is a representative of every year from B. Tech. to handle the
corresponding problems and the queries of the students. Meetings are then held to discuss the
various problems faced and the ways to eradicate them. The various positions in this
distinguished organization are: -

5. Class representatives from each Year of Undergraduate
The annual selection of all the posts above mentioned are done on the basis of the academics of
the respective candidates and the support of the majority of students.

A National Level Student Symposium of the Department of
Metallurgy and Materials Engineering

“Extracted”, “Processed” and “Transformed” … With these metallic

terminologies, the innovative and hardworking faculty & student population
of the Dept. of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering led to the genesis of its
1st ever National level symposium, “METAPHILIA: The National Level
Student Symposium” in the campus of VSSUT, Burla held on the 25th and
26th of March 2017, presided over our beloved Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor
Prof. E. Saibaba Reddy as a Chief Guest, Guest of Honour Er. J. P. Nayak;
President and Plant Head of Aluminium Smelter, Hindalco Industries Ltd, the
Head of the department & Chairman of Metaphilia 2k17, Dr. Sushant Kumar
BadJena and the Faculty Advisor cum convenor, Asst. Prof. Gautam Behera.;
undoubtedly added another drop of zeal to see this event to the zenith. Let’s
observe 2 minutes’ silence for those who missed the monumental and trend
setting events, guest lectures and workshops. There were also demonstrations
for the benefit of the community and attempt to better the technological
cohesiveness between people from various walks of Materials Engineering
and other departments. The highlights of METAPHILIA 2k17 were:

1. Premier Edition:

Metaphilia 2017 happens to be the 1st ever Metallurgy and Materials

Engineering fiesta in VSSUT, Burla. The valour, vigour and ardour employed
in the execution of the fest was highly commendable. Appreciation for the
committee members poured in from all quarters who marvelled at the event’s
excellence.

Celebration

The university celebrate the Open Day & Diamond Jubilee

during 17th to 19th March 2017. In open day the university has
been open the public at large that include student from nearby
institute & technocrat from surrounded industries.

Professor & Head of the Department, Dept. of MME, Dr. N Narasaiah from National

Institute of Technology, Warangal Delivered a lecture on “LINEAR ELASTIC

FRACTURE MECHANISM”.

2015 , the very 1st day of the newcomers in the college. The students had a visit of the
entire college. The faculties demonstrated and showed them all the departments and all
