i. The first World Cup was held in England in June 1975. West Indies won the title
by defeating Australia in the final.
ii. India won the first World Cup title in 1983 by defeating West Indies in the final.
iii. Australia won the World Cup title in 2015 after defeating New Zealand in the
final.
iv. Australia has been the most successful team in the World Cup, with 5 titles and
2 runners-up.

5. ICC World Cup T20 – The ICC World Twenty20 is the international championship
of Twenty20 cricket. It is organised the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Note:
i. The first T20 World Cup was held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2007.
ii. India won the first T20 world cup title in 2007 after defeating Pakistan in the final.
iii. West Indies won the title in 2016 after defeating England in the final.
iv. West Indies won the T20 World Cup title two times.
6. ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup – The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup is the
oldest and most prestigious international women's cricket tournament.
Note:
i. The first Women’s World Cup was held in England in 1973, two years before the
inaugural men's tournament. England won the title by defeating Australia in the final.
ii. England won the Women’s World Cup in 2017 by defeating India in the final.

iii. Australia has been the most successful team in the Women’s World Cup, with 6
titles and 3 runners-up.
7. ICC Women’s World Cup T20 - The ICC Women’s World Twenty20 is the
international championship for Women’s Twenty20 cricket. It is organised the
International Cricket Council (ICC).
Note:
i. The first Women’s T20 World Cup was held in England in 2009. England won the
first T20 world cup title after defeating New Zealand in the final.
ii. West Indies won the title in 2016 after defeating Australia in the final.
iii. Australia has been the most successful team in the Women’s World Cup, with 3
titles and 1 runners-up.
8. Hockey Men’s World Cup – The Hockey World Cup is an international field
hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). It is held
every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics.
Note:
i. The first Men’s Hockey World Cup was held in 1971 Barcelona, Spain. Pakistan
won the title after defeating Spain in the final.
ii. Australia won the title in 2014 after defeating Netherlands in the final.

iii. Pakistan has been the most successful team in the World Cup, with 4 titles from 6
appearances in the final.

10. FIFA (Football) World Cup – The FIFA World Cup is an international
association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the
members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is held every
four years.
Note:
i. The first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930 in Uruguay. Uruguay won the title after
defeating Argentina in the final.
ii. Germany won the title in 2014 after defeating Argentina in the final.
iii. Brazil has been the most successful team in the World Cup, with 5 titles from 7
appearances in the final.

11. FIFA Women's World Cup – The FIFA Women's World Cup is an international
football competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members
of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is held every four
years.
Note:
i. The first FIFA Women’s World Cup was held in 1991 in China. The United States
won the title after defeating Norway in the final.
ii. The USA won the title in 2015 after defeating Japan in the final.
iii. The USA is the most successful nation in the tournament's history, with 3 titles
and 1 runners-up.
12. FIFA (U-17) World Cup – The FIFA U-17 World Cup, founded as the FIFA U-16
World Championship, later changed to its current name in 2007, is the world
championship of association football for male players under the age of 17 organized
by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is held every two
years.
