LESSON INTRODUCTION: (2 points) State Objectives (in “kid language”) for today’s lesson.]
“ Today we are going to learn about comparing and contrasting two different stories”

 Comparing and contrasting is being able to see the similarities and differences between
two things/ stories.

are in grade school
 I am going to read the two books to you If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a
Moose a Pancake.
 Pay close attention to what they have in common and what is different
 After Reading the story we are going to fill out a graphic organizer together and
compare and contrast the similarities and differences
o What did the Moose and Mouse have in common?
o Did they both want the same thing?
o Did they do similar things to get what they wanted?
o What did they do that was different?
 Behind Me I Compare Myself to my Twin Brother
o Some of our similarities include, our birthday, our last name, and our parents
o Some of the differences include he is a boy and I am a girl, he is shy and I am not,
and he goes to OSU and I go to Pitt State.
 See how I was able to come up with differences and similarities just like we were for the
book.
 Now I am going to give you another graphic organizer.
 I want you to compare and contrast something that interests you.
o For example: two different sports: soccer and football
 When you are finished, you can work on finishing up your Facebook pages from last
