Assessment Type and Description

Questionnaire It is an entry level assessment and will take place at the very beginning of the unit plan.
Questions are intended to determine the student’s prior knowledge in solving for area and
algebra skills.
Mix and Match puzzle A formative assessment to assess students on the previous intake of content given in the first
lesson of this unit plan, Geometric Figures and their corresponding formulas.
Kahoot Activity Intended for the instructor to assess the student’s knowledge and to verify if they must reteach
something. Since previous content (formulas and comparison) will be required, to perform the
next assignment, an application of the graphic organizer. This is a formative assessment.
Practice 1, Application Based on the graphic organizer and the method provided to them in this unit plan. This is a
of Graphic Organizer formative assessment. Students will be required to find the volume, area of the base, and
cross- sections of a daily like three-dimensional object. For students to perform this they will
need the formulas to do so and how to compare daily like objects into geometric shapes.
Problem Solving Digital This is a problem-solving activity that is in the digital unit plan website on lesson 2 tab. It is a
Activity formative assessment that is, student’s will require some formula given to them previously,
namely volume of a cuboid. Additionally, students will be briefly assessed on budgeting that
occurs while constructing homes.
Practice 2, Application Similar to practice one, students will be required to do a second graphic organizer on a more
of the Graphic challenging daily like object. The reason why students need to perform this twice is for
Organizer practice purposes when the exam comes around.
Open Discussion on the The following is a formative assessment to stir up critical thinking questions about the math
civic component that happens when organizations construct homes for people in need. The questions consist
of; If I cut your resources to build a home, how heavy of a restriction is it? What rooms would
you dismiss and why? Would the volume decrease in half? Area of the base?
Critical Thinking Similar to the assessment above, this formative assessment was created to incite critical
questions on budgeting thinking and problem-solving skills. In particular when it comes to determining the budget of
issues building homes.
Group activity, peer Due to the presentations due date, this formative assessment was created for the instructor’s
review and students’ purpose. Student’s will be grouped in three or four where they will share their
unique floor plan. The listeners will then provide constructive criticism on the overall
presentation or assistance in any calculations given by the presenter. The instructor will then
walk around the groups to assess the students on content and oral skills.
Presentation The student’s presentations are summative assessments and take place at the end of the unit
plan. They will be required to present their final floor plan, the volume each room takes, the
area of the base of every room, while using the same sequencing approach in the graphic
organizer.
Quick write, reflection A formative assessment to ensure students reflect about their presentations. Thoughts toward
it, anything that should be included, how challenging was it. Additionally, students will be
required to write/answer these questions;
Did it matter if the rooms had restrictions? Would you have less freedom if I told you rooms
had a certain volume or certain dimension (i.e. 2 by 5 or exactly 10 units squared)
Exam Will be a summative assessment since it will require all content provided from the beginning
of the unit plan. As referred to previously it will consist of similar problems given in the
problem solving digital activity, critical thinking questions on budgeting, an application of the
sequence method provided in the graphic organizer and recognizing formulas. Since the unit
plan covers more than four content standards, an exam needs to take place.
Open discussion on the This would be the final assessment and final step of the unit plan. The discussion will require
essential questions the use of equity cards and will consist of all the essential questions provided by the lesson
plan summary.
