Quadratic Equation Project

Ever wonder why math is important or why we even take the time to learn it in school? Math is

everywhere and can be used to solve real-life problems like the ones you and your group will be

required to create and solve in this project. In this project students will be asked to create their

very own quadratic word problem and show the steps to solving this problem step by step.

Directions

1. Groups will consist of 2-3 students. Students may work alone, but are highly recommended

and encouraged to work with a group.

2. Sign-up sheet will be used show the students in each group. If more than 3 students are in a

group that group will either be divided into two smaller groups or students will be placed in

different groups.

3. Students will be required to create their very own real-life word problem using quadratic

equations.

4. Students have the freedom to choose the topic of their word problem, but are required to

submit a rough draft before the final project is due.

5. Students must also show a detailed step-by-step solution to their problem.

6. Students are required to type the final draft. Rough drafts can either be typed or handwritten.

7. Each student is required to contribute work towards this project. At the end of the project,

there will be peer evaluations and student’s grades will be based on the overall work as well as

the peer evaluations.

8. Have fun with this project! Creativity is encouraged and if students need help feel free to ask

me for suggestions and ideas.
