Intended Informing students of vocabulary used in resumes/ C.Vs and Cover Letters
learning - Reviewing and assessing students current level of vocabulary
outcomes
Assessment S will complete some general questionnaires about current skills
as well as correcting simple errors on resumes and Cover Letters
(S will be assessed on their ability to use new vocabulary,
responses to questions, samples of work, and written exercises)
Prep Planning will be negotiated between the instructor and the centre
(negotiation) Students will have to be examined by increased standards so as
to minimize the gap of performance between the lowest and
highest students
Content will be taken from MacMill Business 2.0 and New Market
Leader
Procedure Introduction :General introduction of class structure course content and
Instructor.
S will give short introductions highlighting their career and educational
achievements (Corrected by the instructor)
Practice: S receive worksheets going over a skills questionnaire
to practice how they present their achievements and skills.
After review of how to place skills into C.V format S will view incorrect CVs
for them to review and correct in groups
Discussion of vocabulary (pt action verbs) grammar and structure
Action verbs + project + result = accomplishment)
S fill out Princeton U Career services wks
Break
Cover Letter introduction:
Open discussion of Ideal jobs ("How would you convince someone togive you
your Ideal job?")
S receive sample cover letter (Business 2.0) open reading and
vocabulary discussion
Discussing structure (Princeton/ NML)
Reflection: S will receive a template to write their resume/ Cv
Closure: This will be reviewed and continued in the second lesson S will
bring in sample C.V and Cover Letters
