Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I will begin by asking students what they know about money. I will if they know what money is and why we
use it. Next, I will introduce and review the penny, nickel, dime, and quarter to the students, explaining the
value of all. I will use these coins show the students an example of how to make 1 dollar. I will then ask the
students to tell me other ways to create a dollar using a combination of pennies, nickels, dimes, and
quarters. I will then have students work at a table together to create at least 5 different combinations to
come up with 1 dollar.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During the activity, students will all need their
own tablet. The teacher will pull up the quiz on everyone’s tablet. The students will have a set amount of time
to take the quiz. The teacher will monitor the room while the students answer 8 questions. Students will be
asked to put their tablet down when they are done with the quiz.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I will display the correct answers after the activity so the students can check their work and ask any questions
that they need to in order to understand why they got an answer incorrect.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, I will allow students to ask questions about the answers that they did not get correct on
their quiz. I will provide information to ensure that every student understands the material that was on the
quiz.

How will the data be used? This will be a graded quiz to see how well the students learned the information.
This will be an example of a summative assessment of the content knowledge.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I am hoping that this activity will encourage students
who do not participate in group discussions to engage in this class activity knowing that they do not have to
speak in front of everyone. This allows everyone to practice without having to speak out in front of the class. I
also hope that discussing the quiz after the students take it will encourage the students to talk to each other
about how they came up with their answers.
Reflective Practice: This lesson is a good introduction into a money unit. This gets the students thinking about
the value of money and the coins that make up a dollar. I hope that this lesson helps my students transition
into a deeper look about how to add and subtract money, and how to interpret and solve simple word
problems.
