Discussion

From the experiment performed we came to know that the bulk-density of a material in
compacted form is greater than the bulk-density of a material in loose form. From the data, we
can see the bulk density in compacted weight is 2.01 while bulk density in loose weighted is
1.89 . The greater the bulk-density the less are the voids present and the more is the compactive
effort required. This is very useful during cement production. Experiment show how much bulk
density and percentage of voids within aggregate. For better strength, less void is desired for
cement. Whenever size of aggregate increase void percentage and volume increases.
Conclusion:
Overall, the experiment succeeded by achieved the objective of experiment which is
determination of bulk density and voids of coarse aggregate. The compacted weight of bulk
density was 2.01 kg/litre while the percentage void was 25.28%. the loose weight of bulk
density and percentage voids were 1.89 kg/litre and 29.74% respectively.
