Knits approximate sizes: 0-3mos(3-6mos)(6-12mos)(12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult)
(0-3 months) - 13"-14" head circumference
(3-6 months) - 15"-17" head circumference
(6-12 months) -17"-18.5" head circumference
(12-24 months) - 18"-20" head circumference
(24-48 months) -20”-21” head circumference
(5-10yrs) – 21”-22” head circumference
(Adult) – 22”-23” head circumference
Materials:
Super Bulky yarn #6 weight in colors A & B. See yardage below:
For Ivory Brim & Pom Pom: (25-55 yards/23-50 meters) A-(Wool Ease Thick & Quick Shown in 'Fisherman')
For Red Santa Hat Body: (25-55 yards/23-50 meters) B-(Wool Ease Thick & Quick Shown in 'Cranberry')
US13(9.0mm) – 16”(41cm) Circular knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
US13 (9.0mm) DPN for decreasing rows, or circular needles using 'magic loop' method or size to obtain gauge.
2 cardboard Pom Pom makers (See instructions on how to make your own on page 5)
Row counter, stitch marker, tapestry needle, scissors
Gauge: 10 stitches = 4” in stockinette stitch on US13 (9.0mm) circular knitting needles.
*Important: Before making your Santa hat, be sure to knit a gauge swatch in stockinette stitch, on circular
needles to insure proper sizing.
Abbreviations:
K: Knit
P: Purl
K2TOG: Knit 2 stitches together at the same time

Knitting Instructions:
This will be knit in the round. On the smaller size hat, you can use DPN or 16”(41cm) length and up circular
needles using the 'Magic Loop' method.

Follow instructions according to the size hat you are making:


0-3mos(3-6mos)(6-12mos)(12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult)

With color A & US13 (9.0mm) circular needles or DPN, cast on 24(28)(32)(36)(40)(44)(48) stitches. Join in the
round being careful not to twist stitches and place stitch marker at beginning of round.

Brim:
Row 1: (K1, P1) – till end of round.
Row 2: (P1, K1) – till end of round.

Repeat rows 1 & 2, until you have 6(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12) rows total.

Hat Body:
Join in color B. The rest of the hat from this point forward will be made using color B.

Work 10(11)(12)(13)(14)(15)(16) rounds of: K – till end of round.

Decreasing Rounds:
*Transfer all your stitches evenly onto US13 (9.0mm) DPN, or stay on your circular needles using the Magic

Start on the row according to the size hat you are knitting. For example, if you are making size (24-48mos), you
will start on row 5 and continue, finishing on row 21. Follow instructions according to the size hat you are
making: 0-3mos(3-6mos)(6-12mos)(12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult)
Size (Adult):
Row 1: (K10, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (44) stitches remaining.
Row 2: K – till end of round.
Size Sizes (5-10yrs)(Adult):
Row 3: (K9, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (40) stitches remaining.
Row 4: K – till end of round.
Sizes (24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult):
Row 5: (K8, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (36) stitches remaining.
Row 6: K – till end of round.
Sizes (12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult):
Row 7: (K7, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (32) stitches remaining.
Row 8: K – till end of round.
Sizes (6-12mos)(12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult):
Row 9: (K6, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (28) stitches remaining.
Row 10: K – till end of round.
Sizes (3-6mos)(6-12mos)(12-24mos)(24-48mos)(5-10yrs)(Adult):
Row 11: (K5, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (24) stitches remaining.
Row 12: K – till end of round.

Row 13: (K4, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (20) stitches remaining.
Row 14: K – till end of round.
Row 15: (K3, K2TOG) – til end of round. - (16) stitches remaining.
Row 16: K – till end of round.
Row 17: (K2, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (12) stitches remaining.
Row 18: K – till end of round.
Row 19: (K1, K2TOG) – till end of round. - (8) stitches remaining.
Row 20: K – till end of round.
Row 21: (K2TOG) – till end of round. - (4) stitches remaining.
Cut working yarn leaving an 18” tail. Thread tail through tapestry needle and sew through remaining stitches,
pull to tighten and close up hole. Knot and secure on inside of hat. Weave in any remaining loose ends on inside
of hat. Proceed onto instructions on page 4 to make pom pom.

How to Make a Pom Pom
You will need 2 cardboard “C”s. See printable template & instructions for both sizes on page 7. Use color A.

1) Cut 2” or 3”diameter circles 2) Line up cut outs & hold 3) Working with 2 strands at 4) Wrap strands around cut
