Class 1:
Teacher enters the classroom, says hello to the students. Shows pictures of a chicken, a turkey,
a duck, a cockerel, and a hen, asking about them, eliciting their names. “Do you know what this
is? What’s its name?”,each pictures is pasted on the board. Then the teacher shows wordcards
of the animal’s names. Students are invited to come to the board and place a name under a
picture.
The teacher explains that they are going to listen to a story about a chicken and his friends.
With the help from a projector the teacher shows and tells the story.
She tells the story for a second time trying students to join in.
She has flashcards with images of the story and places them at random on the board. Students
put the story in order. In groups students are given the same images of the story and try to put
them in order. So then they retell the story. “So,first, what happens? First Chicken licken says
the___ fell on me! And he goes to tell the_____. And on his way,he meets...who? WHo does he
meet? , and what does he say?.
After this retelling of the story, they focus on the end of the story. So what happens in the end?
What do you imagine?
Then students are given a sheet of paper and are asked to draw an ending to the story. Then
they can tell their ending to their classmates. They might do so in L1, teacher will translate it to
L2.
En una cartulina por grupo se puede pegar las imágenes de la historia, como ellos la ordenaron
y debajo el dibujo con el final que cada integrante del grupo imagina.
Class 2
Recycling of the story. “Do you remember the story chicken licken?” Handouts of the story are
given to each student (Cambridge Primary, unit 4). Teacher reads the story asking them to join
in in some parts (could this be possible?) then they focus on the end (eliciting the word “trick”
even if it’s in L1, teacher will have to teach it in L2) Then they work with the handout. Page

Exercise C, oral reading. They are asked to invent one more character and add it to a sentence
using “and”.

POSSIBLE SPIN OFFS

● Maths: counting eggs

“Hen len laid 7 eggs. Fox lox took 3. How many eggs does Hen Len have?”

:
● Farm/city contrast
Showing a picture of a farm and a picture of a city. Place these animals in the correct picture.
Do the chicken / hen / turkey, etc? Belong in the farm or in the city? Once they are all placed in
the farm, we can start thinking which animals we can see in the city. Esto puede derivar en
trabajar animals de granja, o en trabajar pets.
