As the one of the biggest Muslims populations’ country and we, as delegates representing Indonesia,
feeling really sorry about what happened to Rohingya and condemned those violence actions did by
Myanmar’s military. We appreciated Myanmar for letting our ministry of foreign affairs, Retno Marsudi
to come and made a choice to give Indonesia ways to help Rohingya’s refugees for sending food stocks,
family kit, tents, emergency water tanks and other things. Indonesia launched about 2 million US Dollar
collected from donations from people and organizations through the Aliansi Kemanusiaan Indonesia
untuk Myanmar (AKIM) that will be spend for education, health, livelihoods, and post conflict recovery.
Indonesia also committed to continue the relationship with Myanmar for reconciliation,
democratization, and inclusive development.

From the internal side of Indonesia, we as the government getting so many urges about helping
Rohingya’s and about to cut the bilateral connection with Myanmar but, we know it’s the last thing to
do. There was demonstration in front of Myanmar’s embassy in Indonesia to protest about the conflict
that we think already can be called as Humanitarian Intervention, genocide and ethnic cleansing actions.
As the rights of people, mostly Muslims, men, women, and children were not important anymore by
seeing the situation, place and also the answers from Rohingya’s refugees that got interviewed and
already moved to shelters.

We want Myanmar to stop the conflict, because we all know so many people already affected and other
countries around Myanmar such as Bangladesh also got disturbed because of this. We hope Myanmar
will accept the help from other countries too about how to solve this problem and the government can
cooperate with it to find the solutions immediately.

The situation in Rakhine states really complex, the need of cooperation between countries to make
peace, secure, and stability in Rakhine is already in high phase, and we hope other countries will also
help rohingya’s refugees as we have the objectives to keep the peace and stability among ASEAN
countries that include on the “Three Pillars of ASEAN”
